SBlive and Privateer

Hey all It’s been a long time since I posted, You helped me fix a speed problem with privateer on my old computer :). Well, now I would like to play it again (what a great game), but I can't get at my old machine. I have a SBLive. The diagnostic shows sb16 emulation is working just fine. As soon as I exit to dos mode (win 98) it inexplicably dies and SBEGO cant detect it even though SBEINIT says it has allocated resources for it. It’s sad that origin hasn’t created a windows patch for the game due to its popularity. Can anyone help?

A simple patch wouldn't be enough to get Privateer to run in Windows. You should create a bootdisk, it's the easiest (and often only) way to play Priv. We'll need the contents of your autoexec.bat and config.sys, but check any of the older bootdisk threads first.

VIA Chipset could be to blame

Thanks Kris, But I did make a bootdisk :) it's that the sblive sb16 emulation should be working and it isn't. I've done some digging on the net and there is somthing about some motherboards with VIA chipsets not supporting NMI which the emu driver needs. Does anyone have any ideas, or a work around? Thanks all.
