Remake! Finally my prayers are answered!

Hey guys!

What a great idea! Giving up Privateer on my PC was the only thing I lamented
when I swiched to Mac. Got a Dual G5 tower and a G4 titanium laptop that I'm trying out the game on. Some thoughts:

Getting used to the nav computer and the upgrade interface. Like the original.

For some reason I'm not hearing any soundfx, afterburners, guns, etc.

Also having problems getting my old joystick to work.

Not sure how to install the HUD displays into my Privateer Pkg. It runs off
the dmg and says it cannot be altered.

Anyway...all in the name of progress! You guys have done an awesome job!
Can't wait for version 2.0!

that's very weird that you aren't hearing SFX
try running the setup program and turning them on specifically

Don't worry about it - just wait for the new (old) displays in 1.1.
 
A few more notes:

Miss the exploding the console action when your ship is getting fragged.

The mouse interface is great!

Had my first freeze up. Had to shut down the computer. The mouse cursor was still
active and the music still played. But the picture was frosen.

Still no luck with sfx.

Keep up the great work! When can we pay you guys for a copy?
 
The exploding console stuff is still not implemented into the remake and also won't appear in 1.1 but we will try to put it in. The game stays free - forever.

wierd.

Just put on my headphones and the sfx are suddenly working. Along with voices, explosions, guns, etc.!

Guess my soundsticks weren't able to pick it up. Usb connection?

Thoughts? Solutions?

Actually it seems that the sfx don't work if too many of my firewire\usb ports are being used. Plugged in my isight and the sfx didn't work. Unplugged it and they worked again.
 
i would also like to express my gratitudes, my favourite game since 386/486
new features just make the game more alive
the only thing that would really need to be more #old# is the ai ship control, but that is just a tiny drop compared to this.. huge supercool game :)

btw, maybe the game is free, but im sure there are a lot of people out there like me, who would really like to donate something to inspire you :)
