Just been in the Origin site and it looks like everybody went for a cup of coffe and never came back. What's happening? Are they over? Is it finished?
 
Sadly, yes.

To the best of my recollection;

Origin systems has been completely assimilated into EA games. Origin-produced games won't even carry the Confed- I mean, Origin label anymore.

What a feckin' shame eh?
 
OSI has always been horrible at updating their website... it's not really anything new.

I think EA runs and updates pretty much all of origin.ea.com. Or they don't, as the case is.
 
Origin still does the Ultima Online stuff. Well they did, then they cancelled the one project. You could always check on the stock websites to see if a company is still being traded. That is pretty much the final say if a large company has life left in it or not.
 
Origin Systems is still quite succesfull -- they're just not making any WC games.

The reason the Origin site hasn't been updated is because it's no longer owned by Origin -- EA took over the web site of all their divisions and, being a company run by monkeys and a potato, seem to have no idea how to update them <G>

That's why Origin creates new web sites for each game they do -- there's one for U9, one for UO, one for Prophecy, one for SO, one for Gold... etc.

What are they making then ? If I remember well, the latest Ultima wasn't a sucess. What happend to the "200 full-time employees" ?
 
I don't think they used to be THIS bad, look at what they let happen to www.wingcommanderprophecy.com and thats still linked to in their site map :p
Hmmm perhaps Origin has moved into the porn buisness :(

When HCl pointed that out to me my hopes for origin and WC getting bank on their feet snak greatly.
 
Oh boy, it's even worst than I thought ! Who the hell is "Suzy" ? I don´t think she's playing WCP in those pictures!
 
Yes... the fact that OSI didn't bother to renew the website of a game that was released a few years ago is suprising!!! Secretops.com and Prophecygold.com, however still exist. You also can't say they've been ignoring them, since it looks like the domains have been renewed in the past few months.

To generate traffic. A lot of common spelling mistakes in microsoft.com are also porn sites.
