Question about mods.

Hi, im new here and want to ask a question.
if i was te make a mod for a game, the mod is based on WC P, could i take pictures of say the briefing room and put them in my mod? or voice sounds from WC P and put those in my mod? the rest ofcourse i would make on my own things like ship models and stuff and the mod would be free ofcourse but i was just wondering if i did that if that would be illegal?
 
Oh, I thought this was going to be a thread asking about how amazing I am :(

Anyway... technically that'd be illegal and things, but nobody would give a shit unless you started selling it.
