Prophecy and Secret Ops NAV map

Rear Admiral
I'm not sure about this but I heard that you can change the NAV route you go on. I try really hard to do it be it doesn't work. Can someone give me a Completly detailed description on how to do it? PLEASE?

Thank you!

You could, but it doesn't really do you much good in Prophecy/Secret Ops. The nav map primarily comes in handy during defense missions so you can see which bombers are targeting your friendlies. Right click on things to select them.

All I can do is select a NAV point, then, when I click FLY, it takes me on the normal route, here is a example I tried:

Wing Commander: Prophecy
Convoy Rescue:
I'm at the Midway Nav and I go on the Nav map, I hit the "N" button until I get to Nav 4. I hit FLY and hit Autopliot. But I still go to Nav 1. I don't understand.

The fly button just exits the nav map. You need to right click on the nav points to select them.

Flying directly to Nav 4 in that mission will result in a mission failure. But if that's your intention, you press N to bring up the nav map, right-click on Nav 4 to select it, press Escape to retutrn to flight, and A to use auto-pilot.

All this is from memory, so don't shoot me if I got it wrong.

Edit: Whoops, what Chris said.

Yeah, while reprogramming your nav route is helpful even in the very first mission of Wing Commander 1, it doesn't buy you much in Prophecy/SO.

I remember there being a few missions where flying nav points out of sequence was a good idea, or at least, more fun, like one fighter sweep late in Prophecy and the mission in Secret Ops where you meet up with and escort Tereshkova, Kuznetsova and Leonov.

Yeah, the solution is definitely to right-click. While it doesn't necessarily help for the most part in prophect, there is at least one mission that requires you to change your nav.

Actually that mission was the one that got me active in the WC online community back in... 98? Before the movie and secret ops anyway. My very first post (over at the old dans wc movie website) was asking that very question. Though I had been visiting WC sites since at least 96/97

There's one Prophecy mission where it's not critical to the storyline, but it "helps your comrades" anyway. On a fighter sweep from the Midway...once you're about done with your Nav point, another flight group is calling for assistance because they're getting overrun. In the end, if you end up doing that, obviously you get more kills, but I think it's a bonus mission goal as well. Plus, who doesn't want to blow more Nephilum into splochy green space goo? :D

Yeah I did that, but what about Secret Ops? And (About Prophecy) who has a Career average over 90%? I have like, 90.70%. I had the game since 1999. I already beat the game (Wormhole distruction), and I NEED to ask, can you ever fix that "Cult of Sivar rescue" from being grey? I mean, like, make it green or red instead of it being counted as incomplete.

Nope, your flight recorder is damaged.

Yeah but the CAG and the Captian find out. I HATE HAWK! He is like "All cats must die". He is a bad idea for the "Heart of the Tiger"

I remember years back there was a rumour that in Prophecy you could save the three convoys and make it back to the Midway with them by changing the NAV route?

Was that ever true, I tried :( but it never worked...
I got upset

If you're talking about Barkley and Porter, there is no way to save them. You can save Redeemer.

how do you save Redeemer?

Redeemer is the refueler that comes out to replenish your fuel and weapons. It is possible for the crabs to destroy Redeemer as you escort it back to Midway, but from my experience, it isn't a priority target and can be pretty easily defended. When I'm escorting something, I go to the nav map, click on the ship I want to defend and right click on the most dangerous threat that is targeting it. If there are too many, I taunt them and get them to target me instead.

its also worth it to save the redeemer as it will refuel and resupply you pretty often in later missions.

ah okay, i meant Barkley and Porter - ~~~, i remember reading a rumour which said if you skip a nav point or somthing a special manta ray shows up and if you kill it then you save the convoy - LIARS! ;)

Redeemer, god i'd totally forgotten about in-flight refueling/rearming - such a cool feature!!!

*goes to replay Prophecy with the DVD videos :D*

I remember I tried it like 3 or 4 times... I really did my best to see if there was a way to save them, but I realized it was impossible :(
