Programmer needed for small WC Project

Ok, I need someone to write a System editor for WC Universe, it seems the last guy never sent me the one he was working on, it's been over TWO months now and no word so, we're looking elsewhere for help. I have made an interface for the editor in Borland c++ Builder3, I cannot program however so someone else will be needed to make the buttons actually work. Here is the editor so far:

All the info on star systems will be posted here later.
any takers? (I would like the top Icons to be replaced with graphic Icons) Star systems are being coded in .XML format.
 
Ehm, is it difficult?
Seems nobody is volunteering to do.
I can only say about myself I got at the moment no experience with C++, but I just want to learn. So if it isn't too difficult I could do in 1 month (summer holidays...2 weeks I still got). But I'd have to learn it before. So I just waited if anybody reports whom almost knows the language, but if there's need, I'd do.:)
What do you think about (I heard C++ is in some ways equal to other Borland languages of which we had Turbo Pascal, at the moment Delphi and Visual Basic at school. So I am no newbie in programming just with C++)?
If I can help you, I'd like to do.
 
C++ is among the most powerful languages, and a lot harder to learn than say C or Perl. You won't get very far in one month. Of course there are those "Learn C++ in 20 days" type books, but that's really just the basics ("hello world!" and the always loveable "Enter two numbers you'd like to add up!"). I'm not familiar with Turbo Pascal or Delphi, but I can tell you Visual Basic is for sissies, and it doesn't begin to compare to the real deal.
 
*g* why don't you do then? I heard C++ is quite familiar with Turbo Pascal.
And it was just a question. Nobody wanted, so it was good meant. :)
Then I'll learn on my own.
 
I didn't say I know C++. I just informed you it's not something you can master well enough on a rainy day for decent programming as I imagine a systems editor would require.
 
I talked about 2 weeks. And if I turn on PC I talk about hours...*g* So 14 days with 4-5 hours a day, but so...I believe you it's difficult. But you don't know me. I wouldn't do it on a rainy day...I'd do it weeks.:)
But it's okay.

And yeah book, my B-Day comes soon. :) My parents will pay for it.
 
thanks for that turorial, I have C++ builder 3, maybe I can do some work on it as well :) I managed to contact the guy yesterday, it's 60% done, I would likethe new interface added to it though :)
 
Yes you'lll get it, Everyone wilol, It'll probably get released as a Vegastrike development tool, and WC Universe is based on the Vega strike engine.

Any idea where to get Borland c++ Builder3 (for free). A got a couple of C compilers, but no compatible ones. So I cannot really say how hard it would be to do what you want (as I cannot see the interface).
 
If you really want to learn C++, I highly recommend Deitel and Deitel. But keep in mind, it would take about 3 months to learn the language, if you already know how to program. And borland adds language extensions that add complications. I'd recommend taking an introduction to programming course at a community college if you can.
 
Community College? Never heard about that.
So then I see, I'll do, and look,but my holiday reduces itself every day. From 6 weeks I only got 10 days, where I got nothing to do. :D
 
What he means in your case, is any college course. In the US you have regular college, and community college. The main difference being the latter doesn't cost two million dollars a year. It's all the same in Europe though.
 
Thanks :) But university, there I go because of something else. No, I'll have to learn it by myself and some club-friends whom seem to know, maybe they can teach me a little bit. But thanks for the advice. Just don't have the time.

Know what? A very good deal of excellent universities in France, are actually "public"... i.e. you don't have to pay overwhelming tuition fees... :cool:

Tee hee. Isn't most of the stuff from Microsoft programmed in Visial Basic? :)
