i go to my avitar changer thing and it doesn't let me change it...it says don't have an avitar and i can't un-click it...HELP!

If you read the "ranks" section as provided by Pete's link, you'd see the bar comes with rank as you post more and more.

Since you're a Cadet, you don't any Insignia. When you are promoted to 2nd Lt, you will get a Gold Square
