Certain controls like "0" for requesting docking clearance and "j" for jumping while in the jump points don't work...ideas?

Same problem here, playing on a laptop (Windows version) with both the laptop kbd and a USB kbd.

Try buying a jump drive to jump
They cost around 12500 credits or so...I think it's in the misc category

for the space ships I need to hit d when i'm close to land

To clarify the "clearance to dock doesn't work". I guess what I mean is that when I hit 0 to request clearance, the docking clamps highlight but the comm system doesn't clear, it just leaves the menu up. Maybe this isn't a bug but it seems wrong.
That's how it's supposed to work. And you don't even have to bring up the comms menu to request clearance, either hit 0 or d when the base/ship/planet it selected and then hit d again when you're close enough.
The 'requesting clearance' part can actually be skipped altogether, just fly within the autodock range of something and hitting d is good enough.
