Problem with P2 in Win98

Barrage

Spaceman
I've gotten to Privateer 2 to run in Windows 98. Everything works fine until I get to the bar where the first choice in the game is. When the screen for the bar comes up, it's like it's compressed and stretched horizontally across the screen. Has anyone had this problem or have an idea what's causing it?

I don't know much about P2, but is it 'cause you monitor is changing screen modes? Lack of interlacing?

I already used the patch. All the video up till that part works. The intro works, the part where you see the main character walking to the bar works, it's just when you get in there it is all messed up. I would play it in dos, but I'm not sure how to turn up the volume. It does work in dos.
I have a Voodoo 3dfx.

Read This-

"The Intro video may lock up when playing this game. There is a patch to fix this on Origin's home
page (http://www.origin.ea.com).
An excerpt from the README.TXT follows:
Video cards using the Rendition Verte chipset will usually lockup during the OSI movie. This is because the video mode the movie player uses is not supported by the video card. The solution was to write a special movie player specifically for these cards. To activate this mode, type "DARK -svga" at the command line. This will use the SVGA movie player specifically written for these cards (Total 3D, Screamin' 3D, 3D Blaster PCI, Intense 3D 100). NOTE: While the movie player will no longer lock up, some cards will exhibit palette flashes while movies are playing."

Try adding the -svga to your icon.

I'll try it. But as I said the intro does not lock up. Neither does the first area with at the bar, the screen is just messed up. It I hit alt-x then y I can exit the game.
