Privateer Tips, Tricks, & Secrets?

Amen brother!! Even today, I visit those sectors just to remind them of my wrath! I even used a fan made mod to fly a Dralthi and vist them in that also! Just to "shove" it in their faces!! :D

I agree with LOAF, how can you complete both Privateer and RF without doing those missions for Confed, which involves taking out cats! ?!?! Both Privateer and RF have missions in the main plot where you take on the Kilrathi!

In the Mission of Sandra goodin in RF you must kill some kilrathi.....
Maybe Mekt show a credencial of the Kilrathi fan club :)

I didn't go hunting for the 'asteroid' and neither have I killed any Confed, Militia or Merchants. I wouldn't kill any Hunters either, if it wasn't for some of Lynn... sorry, Murphy's missions.

I'm a natural born killer!

Thats right, if your Pirate, Retro, Killie, or even ConFed...YOUR NOT SAFE! Kamekhs and Paradigms have gone up in balls of fire...

Not even the Steltek were safe!!! :D

In RF I shot down some Kilrathi but in Priv I always ran away when encountering Kilrathi or I flattered them over the comm.

I wasn't much of one for killing merchants... and I abhored killing Confed's -- the first time I played through, I ran from those that attacked me during the Tayla missions -- I believe I've only ever played one game where I actually engaged them.

(And once I attacked a Paradigm for kicks, because... hey, Paradigm.)

Heh... all of a sudden, I can see why they might have considered the TCS Iason was dangerous :).

Well since i'm a complete dunce, it has taken me 3 or 4 years to realize i also have RF on my cd.
So when im done with that I'll ask for some more secrets if there are any. :)

Be on the lookout in the Pyranees system, for a merchant that is flying a Dralthi. No one believes me, but there *was* a merchant in a Dralthi flying around the jump point to Troy in the Pyranees system. It was only in RF, near the very begining of the game. Try flying from Joplin and head for Troy, pick up a cargo mission and fly back towards New Detroit, via Pyranees. Thats where that merchant flying the Dralthi came up. She was sqakin friendly IFF so dont worry about it shooting you.

Question about rumors:

Thanks to this list, I started playing through privateer
about a week ago. One of the first rumors I here (I
hadn't even left Troy system yet) was about this
weird green glowing THING that was trashing ships
left and right. Kilrathi ships disappearing, Confed
Outposts destroyed, a lot of it along the privateer lanes,
etc, etc.

I'm surprised to get this message this early in the game.
I can surmise two possibilities from this:

1. The Drone was already active and destroying things
BEFORE our hero found the gun. AFTER
the find, it zeroed in and hunted him specifically,
rather than causing general mayhem.

2. The Drone was dormant until the gun was found,
then activated and attacked only our hero when he
found the gun. The early appearance of the rumor
is merely a bug in the game.

Which scenario is closer to the designer's original
intention?

Respectfully,

Brian P.

If you noticed during the introduction, Burrows fired 2 missiles at the pirate Talon, destroying it with one of them, but the other veered off and hit that green Drone. So it was in fact "active" early in the game, that is why the bartenders tell you about some green thing blowing up ships left and right.

RFBurns is correct... the thing that *really* activated the Drone was the missile -- but no one in the game has any way of ever knowing this.

:) The drone has 5 front mounted guns. They fire in a W pattern. Tip: Fire IR missles at it to get it to fly away from you, stick to its six and let loose with just the steltek gun only, the other guns will only waste away valuable energy. Dont rely on the fleet. Their weapons are impervious to the drone.

Took me a while to realise I had SO1/2 on my WC2 CD too. :)

Nice screenshots. Is this something you can do regularly?

is it possible to find one of the unmarked jumppoints before being assigned to do them by whats her name and the retro guy?
