Privateer 2 Developers Warthog Bought Out (November 22, 2004)

Mr. Kat
When Privateer 2 was developed it was at EA's Manchester division, but shortly afterwards it was closed prompting the former staff to form Warthog. The most notable of Warthog's games within the space sim community is of course Starlancer. Now BBC News (see bottom of page) reports that the company has been bought out by US based company Tiger Telematics in exchange for $1.13 millon, and 500,000 shares in the Tiger company. Together this is worth a reported $8,1 million, which doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. You can read a bit more at the bottom of this page.

I remember Warthog also developed the Battlestar Galactica PS2 & X-Box video game that came out last year. Pity it wasn't made for PC.

That is exactly how I felt when I found out that Rogue Squadron II and III were not offered for the PC. The first one was a great PC game. Then again, I did go out and buy a Gamecube just so I could play them.

People don't buy Joysticks anymore.. and the thought of playing with a mouse/keyboard puts them off.

Do you think consoles and their titles are taking an appreciable bite out of the PC gaming market? I hope that isn't too stupid of a question. I've learned that you work at a software retailer (from bouncing around the boards), so I'm sure your insight is more accurate than mine. However, I've always felt PC games, minus the occasional setup headache, were generally of a higher quality when compared to many console titles, especially ports. WC is a good example. I do own a PS1, an N64, and a Gamecube for various reasons, but my PC is and will remain my first choice platform.
