Well, I finally went out to the local computer show today and bought the Dxr2 card, and got it home ready to set up & play WC4 DVD. Or, so I THOUGHT...: Turns out I may have been ripped off, so I'm hoping someone here can help me determine if I have or not.
Here's the deal: The manual that came with it shows a pictures a card DIFFERENT in appearance to the one that was in the box with it! Specifically, the card's bracket in the manual is shown as having 2 VGA ports (external "pass- thru"), a S/PDIF socket, and a "TV out". The card I hold in my hand has a Line Out port, a S/PDIF port, an S-VHS Out port, and a "Comp-Out" port. There are *NO* external VGA ports whatsoever.
Internally, the card has a chip labeled "Creative CT7165-D", and the card itself is imprinted "Model CT7160 Creative PC-DVD".There are 4 separate yet physically identical audio-in headers (these are labeled audio-out, digital-out, and audio-in 1 & 2), and a 26-pin header labeled "Video Port"
Bottom line is, IS this, in fact, a Dxr2 card or not? It would seem not, but then, what IS this card?... Is this possibly a Dxr3 card? (the vendor mentioned something about the main difference between the 2 cards being the fact that the Dxr3 has internal pass thru's for the video. Is that what I got? Anyone have a clue here? Please?...
