well my favorite "article of clothing worn in WC" was in WC2 paladin's jacket he wore in the barracks a few times

Same here I just loved that

....brings me to the other odd thing.. in WC1 Paladin is Blond in WC2 Blond/Grey in WC3 he has full black hair..

Well, he dyed his hair to hide the grey streaks.

Yeah, and he gains a lot of weight, too. But it's not like he's the only one that changed in the animation/live action transition. It's only to be expected, because of the way casting is done - usually, when you write the script, you're very careful not to describe the way a character looks unless it's a vital part of their character. Thus, it is rather doubtful that the casting people even knew what WC1/2 characters looked like, and it is equally doubtful that Chris Roberts would have tried to choose actors that better resembled those characters. For an inexperienced director working with a limited budget, choosing actors based on their appearance is pretty risky - imagine if, instead of John Rhys-Davies, they instead had some talentless moron who happened to look like Paladin.
