Novel Intrepid vs Novel Victory

Quite true but I doubt the ships would get that close to make that an issue. On the fighters comment, it depends. IF you go with the novels Intrepid with the pitiful COnfed scraps I beleive it would get dusted in a heartbeat. If you go with the BW's own ships like in the game (which I think is more likely), it would be alittle more of a challange. I thought the BW ships were just about as effective as the Confed (though a little underarmed - but thats nothing a good pilot can't deal with :) ). I think I'd have to go wiht the Intrepid just because it is built around a destroyer and it would just hold together somehow (as I read the novel I just wanted to get out and push so many times, but it kept on taking the punishment :) )

I like how you could capture the enemy's transports. :) I never got a good look at them, though - are they any different to the capships?

The Confed and Kilrathi transports are neat looking, when you see them in combat. One shot of whatever sort of weapon seems to kill them, though. And if they're captured they magically turn into the opposing sides class of transport.

If you played the losing track mission looking for the Kilrathi asteroid base, the Victory takes it out with a couple of capship missiles. Unless you do like me and shoot them down.:D

I need to play that game again. As I said, I never managed to get a good look at them - probably too busy taking care of their escorts. Anyone manage to get screenshots of them?

And are you serious about something as simple as a single laser blowing up the transport? It wouldn't make sense to blow up a transport if you can capture it, anyway. Maybe if you find yourself losing a particular engagement...

I seem to recall that (if you win) you capture them anyway, even if you blow them up :) Armada's transport stuff was very, very confusing.

Somebody had extracted the 3D models of the transports a while ago... haven't seen them in a while, though.

Once I get my WC Computer running I can get Armada screenshots and such with much more ease.

the intrepid before it had half of its crew killed by a confed cruiser (either Achilles or Agamemnon, cant remember) or after most of the ship got trashed?

Capmiss? what is that compared to torps?

It's bigger, with a longer range and a much heavier warhead. On the flipside, it's a lot easier to shoot down, and you can't fire salvoes of them like you can with torpedoes.

I would still go with the Victory... it's jsut a better ship with a better crew and if you think about it crew wise, the pilots on the Victory were a lot better and Blair and Maniac were younger and more in flying shape since the great war was still going on...

Well, old age and cunning will beat youth and enthusiasm everytime. :D for the Intrepid, she's chalked up some pretty good big capship kills/disables, including the Lexington and the Vesuvius.

intrepid is faster, plus can do a larger magnum launch (no catapults, so just shove em off) and can defend itself better than the victory but it really depends on what types of fighters the two ships are equipped with

Ehhhhhhh, that's pretty iffy -- if you're going to decide this based on "stuff Blair has blown up while serving off of it", the Victory gets multiple planets and heavy carriers. :)

I thought the saying was "Youth and agility is no match for age and treachery".
