There are a dozen reasons why P2 is in the Wing Commander universe...

We could point out all the Confed references in the database...

We could speak of the Talon which appears in the game...

We could talk about the simple fact that it's too similar to WC not to be WC.

We could point out the 'Privateer' in the title.

We could talk about the timeline -- how it takes place about a hundred years after Prophecy.

But there's a much simpler reason than all this: Origin said so.
