There's a new Master of Orion coming out soon, and it's great to see how a classic '90s space game series is coming back to life. The developers have been posting dev diary interviews as development progresses, and they feature a number of perspectives from Wing Commander vets who worked at Origin. Artist Jeff Dee talks about how alien races with similarities to animals need to still feel like aliens that evolved in their own way. Dave Govett composed the original MOO music and is returning for the new game. He discusses how the visual art can influence the music to ensure the final product is as tight as can be. Also producer Jeff Johannigman has some fun stories about assembling some of the talented people he worked with at Origin, like Jeff, Dave and George Sanger, both back in 1993 and again today. Check out more of what they have to say below!

I'm tentatively excited for this.. Master of Orion was my other biggest gaming love from the mid 1990s and if there is any way to mod a kilrathi faction into it, you can bet I'll be all over that

I didn't know that, cool. I really enjoyed playing MoO2...though I always took the "creative" trait, never played differently.

they put up a first look video today. I'd like to say that I'm still excited, but this is kinda not good. I dunno.. I'll reserve judgement until the development is farther along.

I think the game looks good, but those robot announcer voices are terribly annoying.

yeah. the speaking cadence is really, really off for the robots. it doesn't seem right for a pitch video. the gameplay itself is looking pretty good so far.. but the lack of tactical ship combat being showcased makes me nervous

I'm still excited.. just very, very nervous as well.
