Missile Evasion Tactics

That sounds like a Maniac move to me! Cool!

I enjoy turning at the last moment so that the missile locked onto me hits an enemy craft instead (it's easier to do with corvettes, but I've done it once or twice with fighters). Also, missiles do have the 'spoofability' which I guess means the chance of it losing lock either through decoys or manuovering.

BTW, with Wc3, for some unknown reason, I was still able to press the decoy button when I was out of them and still sometimes lose the lock.

In WC3 you had an internal ECM system built into your fighter that was about 50% as effective as decoys for spoofing enemy missiles. It was automatically used any time you tried to drop a decoy and didn't have any. It could be used an unlimited number of times, but took a couple of seconds delay before it could be re-used (to prevent a player from mashing the button repeatedly to spoof missiles with an unlimited stream of low-effectiveness countermeasures). The intent was that a player would not be helpless against missiles when decoys ran out, but it turned out that it discouraged players from conserving their decoys, so the built-in ECM system was removed in WC4.

Best way to avoid a missile, is to not give your enemy the chance to fire one at you, front or behind you. :)

Shoot first, stunt fly later.
