Rogue Leader
It may surprise some of you that I've never seen the movie "Top Gun" before. Anyway, when I saw an ad for it on the Encore channel, I saw the lockers labelled "Iceman" and "Maverick," presumably the callsigns. Soooo, in WC1 we have "Iceman" Casey, is that part of why we are given "Maverick" as Blair's callsign?

Also, I was playing Primarch's Alien Legacy series from WCSOM, and I hate flying escort missions with Plunketts. If getting shot down by the Cerberus was bad enough, imagine having to dodge a Plunketts guns in battle! To quote Cpl Gossard (I just got hooked onto the Roughneck Chronicles): "So let me get this right... if we fail, our side blows us up?"

Hmm, where might a Plunkett carry fighters anyway? Or do they fly separately?

A lot of the new fighter in the WC P can now jump.I am not sure, but only the wasp can not jump(Best Damn Idea on the game, a great point defence fighter).
The Plunkett have a lot of firepower and if we get on his way...And Looks like a realistic Cruiser.I hate escort missions because I have to worry about other ships suvivel besides mine.
Does anyone made a mission were we see a vesuvius?

I liked the Wasp idea too, pity we don't fly it very often, although if we did, that would mean our patrols aren't that good!

My point with the Plunketts is that the AI makes the turrets shoot slightly off its target. If you happen to be tailing a ship that's being targeted by a heavy plasma or particle turret, too often 'slightly-off-target' means your position. Plain English: your craft goes boom. Or at least heavily damaged. One second "Perfect, you could eat your lunch off this ship," the next, "Oh sh... AHHHHH!"

Well, I'd like to see a modified Wasp, converted into a space superioity fighter. IMO, it already is superior to the Panther, and with few more additions it could be much better.

The guns, especially on the Black Wasp, are incredible, and the Swarmers are probably my favorite missiles in all WC games.

I gessed that, that stupid plasma turret destroys more ships on our side that the Guns of the Bugs.
We sould court macial those gunners.

I think the same way, but occasionally the reverse happens when I'm in a Devastator. That happened once in the second of the double mission at the end of Prophecy. Oooh, that was irritating.

I have seen the Cerberus take down the occasional fighter with the heavy plasma before though. And if corvettes come close enough... heh heh.

All I meant was that the problem was multiplied with the Plunkett's guns.

And I still can't get past that Iceman/Maverick callsign thing.

At lest we are careful not fire that thing when our pals are buzzing around.
I gess that Iceman really comes from that movie(read it in some site that Iceman chose that callsign from a 20th century old movie about pilots), but Maveric? I am not sure why Blair chose that Callsigh.

Blair was given that callsing during his time at the Academy because of his by the book flying style. Notice though, that he has changed his callsing several times. To Pilgrim, for a short time while on the Claw, and to his Kilrathi name Heart of the Tiger, during the Border Worlds conflict.

As for Top Gun, I think I read somewhere that Roberts's callsign was Maverick during his younger years, and he might have been influenced by that movie.

Iceman and Maverick are very popluar callsigns though.
