Presumably the main purpose is a Marine landing craft is amphibious assaults -- so the ship doubling as a tank once it hits the beach/planet seems helpful.

Ok, I thought the LC was primarily for boarding other ships, not for planet assaults. It also does not look very off-road capable to me but I can't tell how large those tracks would have been.

Hmm...LC (Landing Craft)...that would give the impression that it IS just a LC. Not really an assault fighter. And if it was a tank, it has not weapons, it's more like a dustbuster, armored transport...~~~.

No one is saying that it's a fighter (?) - but go reread your End Run, which describes the role (and heavy armament) of a Marine landing craft.

Hm... quite a very cool design, indeed...

Just a little question: is that some sort of a cockpit a the left side? Because, if it does - the pilot can hardly see anything on the right side of his vessel and also not really much in front...

Yeah, but dustbusters don't disgorge Marines.

So, in effect, this'd be like the taser of Dustbusters.
