Making the Games: Assorted Prophecy Ship Artwork (November 19, 2008)

We may have reported on it before, but there's a version of the starbase on a black background from Dean McCalls website. It's a slightly larger image too:

I always liked seeing the Kilrathi Starbase: the design is solid and it made the Prophecy universe a little less empty.

I always liked the Seahawk. It's a perfect vision of AWACs in space. :)

The inflight refueling introduced in WCP was a great feature. It's one of the assorted things from the novels you can tie into the game. Tolwyn describes in FC wanting a system similar to the Kilrathi, who used multipurpose shuttles for everything, later Tolwyn and company used the system to great effect at Baka Kar. Confed finally got around to reading the memo and we've got some great looking shuttles. :D

In-flight refueling isn't new in prophecy. WC2 does this as well on select missions. The difference is that you have more control of it in Prophecy whereas in WC2 it was pretty much scripted into a couple missions.

Humm. I remember the base being taken over in T'lan Meth but I don't remember ever seeing a picture in the game. Was it?

Well, the station does not appear in any FMV cutscene but in in-flight cutscenes. It's also (at least) in one of the Sim missions.

It's rather hard to destroy because you have to hit its bridge (which are just some antennas) from the right angle.

Perhaps that's why it slipped my mind. Good looking out.

I remember saving Blair but for some reason I don't remember that base. Of course I think I've only played Prophecy all the way through maybe once or twice. (Things always interrupted me.) :-(

Hehehe good point, I'm reading so many mission briefs though sometimes things are blurring together. :D
