Kilrathi warships and starfighters in the movie.

I just recently viewed half of the WC movie; time, need more time….

But anyway, is it possible for an expert [on this forum] to shed some light on the various Kilrathi warships and fighters that I’m viewing? I’m guessing that the common Kilrathi starfighter that we see is a Dralthi, or some variant of – which is a pretty cool design I might add. The battle at Vega (between Tiger’s Claw and a Kilrathi action group), any idea on what the warships the Kilrathi bring to the fight are, specifically the battleship and its destroyer escorts – which I add again, the designs look pretty cool. Class names are adequate.

I ordered the Confederation Handbook…but I’m unsure if there is any info pertaining to the Kilrathi warships and fighters or not (like say, the Victory Streak).

Thanks! If you’ve got it….

Good topic!

The Confederation Handbook is exactly what you need -- it has a ships guide just like Victory Streak (it's basically the manual for the movie -- all articles that the characters in the WC universe would be reading).

All the names are taken from the original Wing Commander. The battleship is a Sivar-class dreadnaught and the destroyers are Ralari-class destroyers. The large Kilrathi ship at the end of the movie is a Snakeir-class Superdreadnaught, and a Fralthi-class Cruiser appears briefly towards the end of the movie.

Support ships show up, too. The communications ship later in the movie is a Thrakhra-class ComCon, and a Dorkir-class Transport is mentioned on one of the Rapier's VDUs at one point in the movie.

Thanks! It looks like I did well with ordering the Handbook.

So the BB that Paladin bangs is a Sivar-class DN, that’s cool. (Battleship and dreadnought is pretty much interchangeable in our universe…so I’m guessing that it is the same for the WC universe; the systems operator calls it out as a battleship, which alludes to them being of a similar tonnage and capability.) Ha, I was going to ask about the cruiser and its lone escort the Tiger’s Claw hulls: Fralthi-class cruiser…that seems familiar, and so does Ralari-class destroyer. The designs are elegant; it provides a nice contrast to the “bladed” (and somewhat bland) vessels of WC3 that I’m familiar with; it could also be said about the Confederation vessels….

I like the Skipper missile cameo, as well as that lone destroyer nuking possible hiding spots on that planetoid. Good stuff.

Thanks again.

Yeah... the original Wing Commander game uses 'battleship' and 'capital ship' interchangably.

One of the Wing Commander novels is a prequel about the early days of the war where there's actually a separate class of battleships in the World War II sense (large ships with big plasma guns for ranged battles and planetary bombardment).
