Well, since I got a new PC I thought I'd try to do some "heavier" modelling since before my old PC just couldn't keep up with the load. I'm happy to say that after I churned this one out the new rig was just chugging right along. :) Of course this isn't anything from WC which is why its off topic but I know some people enjoy other 3d work so I thought I'd share. I'm also working on a carrier right now that is kinda cool...

That is one very fine piece of work, indeed. It has a "je ne se quais" about it. I'm trying to figure out what fictional universe it feels like it fits in. Very well done.

It looks like a ship from Star Blazers, a Japanese cartoon where the earth's space navy was using designs simular to WWI and WWII ships, the flagship of the fleet was the Battleship Yamato, which if my memory is corect, was the WWII Japanese battleship that had been restored and updated.

I would say it has a bit more firepower than an escort cruiser...looks more like a heavy ship of the line, either a very heavy cruiser or a dreadnaught....

All depends on your point of refrence - in the "Star Blazers" univeres it would easly fall under escort cruiser, or even a simple escort, expecialy with only one forward dual-gun heavy turret and a horde of point defences.
 
Thanks guys, it was just something I hammered together in a few hours. Following in the same sort of vein I created a quick strike carrier that looks...well, like a carrier! :) I need to fix the back section a bit but it's almost done. After that I need to do some beauty shots if possible

Actually, there's a heavy gun turret just behind the third tower structure, you just have to look a little close at the side view to see it.

yep I see it. This is the reason I am thinking it would be some sort of cruiser.
I don't know what the definitions are in wing commander if there are any.
I there is not then some one should post the definitions used by the navy in WW II
so we can come with our own definitions.
 
yeah sorry, this would not be in the WCU project. Mainly because it's not from WC...its nothing but a fan creation. Admittably, I'm a little proud of this fan creation but that's all it is. If someone wanted this model I'd more than willing to give it to them but I would definitely put my foot down and say that this isn't going into WCU. Besides the poly count would kill even vegastrike. :)
 
ok, I still would like to see what ships other fans come up with and even encoperate in add ons they make. This is why I like open source.
