Introducing Fan RPG 'Against All Odds' (March 18, 2005)

A new Wing Commander fan role playing game has spun off from the Galactic Conflict project. As the WCGC is on hold now, new members can sign up for Against All Odds at their forums. Main events take place at their primary message board, where capital ship movements and large scale events are created. Subforums handle individual characterization and interaction.

Unlike many RPG's, Wing Commander included, AAO focuses on Fleet and Capital Ship based combat, rather then the more often preferred role of a signal character. While some may believe this detracts from the chance for a person to get in character, we at AAO disagree. There are many chances for our players to get into character with Forums such as the Logbooks and Communications Forums on our boards.

If you'd like to join WCAAO it's as simple as following the link to our
Forums and registering there, where our members will happily assist you
in getting started with the RP.

This RPG is actually the "Galactic Conflict" game, its just been moved to a new server and renamed. We are continuing right where the other one left off before the server change. So if you were interested in the other, come on over and sign up. If you signd up for "Galactic Conflict" you will have to re-register.

Uh...well, actually the day that news post went up I accidently crashed our server. So it wasn't working temporarily, which was probably his problem. For technical reasons the site has had some downtime recently (mostly around 1 AM PST, so I don't think anyone noticied) while I do some upgrades to it. Anyway, give it a go again and it should be fine now. It's pretty stable, and by pretty I mean it's been at least an hour since I crashed it last...Just kidding. It hasn't gone down for about a week now.

How does one play this and how do I get on, the site looks a bit wierd especially the options bar on the left, have the text are not in the boxes or something

Read through the Orientation Forums first, and then register after you've finished there, at which point I can PM you with some more instructions.

I'm enjoying it. I think it gives each player a lot of freedom with their character and actions to take. We're kind of in a break in the action right now, things should be picking up again next week.

I know its been announced here before but I thought I'd mention it again since we've been working out the kinks and playing for a little while now. And we're at the point where we'd like to fill in a few slots and possibly expand the scope of the RPG. The game takes place in a forum, where each player takes the role of a task force commander in the confederation navy. The player then posts the actions of his task force and interactions between himself and his crew in the appropriate combat operations forum for where his task force is located. The Kilrathi forces then post a response to the players location and actions and the RP goes back and forth this way. There are separate forums to help the player get more in character by communicating with other players and creating their own logs.

If you've looked at this RPG before and thought it might be interesting, take another look. Or if you are new to this site or just haven't taken a look, check us out. It may seem confusing at first, but our players are willing to help people get started. If you want to give the RPG a try, register a handle and send a PM to either myself (ck9791) or (Akula). Akula is the Administrator of the RP and the site, though I have been taking care of a lot of the day to day activities of the RP and trying to keep things moving.
