I like doing pollls.

Anyway in a Galatic War which Government would win the Free Republic of Landriech or the Union of Border Worlds.

I think the UBW would win.New Craft,better weapons.
 
Not to mention Landreich has no problem taking it's ships into broadsides... now theres something to keep ya on yer toes!
 
While this question ignores a great deal of considerations (what does Confed do? Who started the war, and for what purpose? What exactly does winning involve?), in the simplest situation (no external involvement), victory would be very difficult for either side. The Landreich probably has a military advantage, but the BW probably has a resource and manpower advantage.

The BW definitely has a Navy in 2681, BTW... otherwise, they couldn't possibly have a military exchange set up with the Confed Navy.
 
I agree, it is speculative, but that's what makes it fun. :D The other thing to consider is whether there was a war between Confed and the Landreich post False Colors, as was planned in the original trilogy. If the Landreich had won, the war spending might have kick started their military quite a bit. OTH, if they had lost, then they probably would have taken a hammering.

Landreich easily, with their escort carriers and the Karga/Mjollnir, if they repaired it again along with their assortment of Kilrathi fighters, plus the insane tactical genious of Kruger mixed in with the talents of Bondarevsky and Kevin Tolwyn (although he might not be much of a factor)

while the Border Worlds are stuck relying on pieces of junk like the Intrepid for their carrier force and are flying basically similar fighter craft to the Landreich, while the Landreich has Kilrathi fighters off the Karga thrown into the mix
 
The Landreich still have quite a military after whatever war did or didn't happen -- as they supply the newly formed Border Worlds in WC4. :)
 
Well at least I'm getting False Colors so I can know what the heck is up with Landreich having these kilrathi trinkets! :)
 
The kilrathi ships belonging to the landreich are definately powerful considerations, but do not forget that the UBW also captured some confederation carriers in wc4.
 
is the confed between them if not will it get invalved.
the boarder worlds fought the black lance and won. thay got some bl fighters from that war.

I will, however, note that the UBW did not, in fact beat the Black Lance purely militarily... they were able to not be completely whooped while gathering proof for Confed. They certainly beat them, but not in the way you implied.

sorry what i was trying to say was how close are they too each each other or is the confed between them if they are close to each other why did the ubw not join the other group.

in this case winning is done by out lasting the BL til help arrives from the legit goverment of the confed.
if i remember rightly the ubw has some of the bl fighters if they are smart they will build more or work to built more like them.
 
I don't think the Border Worlds could mass produce the Dragon. Hell, Confed couldn't mass produce the Dragon. :D

A lot would depend on when this fight takes palce. If it was in the immediate post False Colors/WC4 era, then it would be the Landreich at a canter. they've got more ships, better designs, and a professional force that's been in existence longer.

If it was around WC:P time, that's when things would get interesting. The BW has something like 70-80 worlds according to LOAF's map, compared with around 20-25 for the Landreich. If we assume a similar population density and output, then the BW has about 3-4 times the work force and tax base to build up their forces with in those 8 years. So while the Lanreich might have a big lead, the BW might be advancing faster, and catching up to the arms gap. (This is all speculative, I admit.) Add in the benefits of training with Confed, and it would be a very interesting scenario.

Territorially, the Landreich has the benefit of being all in one place rather than being and unconnected -- one place that was reletively untouched by war, and which was developed for 40 years as an independant nation rather than part of COnfed.
 
Hmm, but is the Landreich's concentration in one area really a benefit, or a disadvantage? We all seem to agree on the Landreich having greater military capabilities. This would indicate that they will probably go on the offensive - and then, the Border Worlds sprawliness (yeah, I know, it's not a word :p) turns into a disadvantage for the Landreich, who would have to spread their forces pretty thin to capture all the strategically significant systems.
