I'm Finally Done!

To be fair, it doesn't look too much like any of these two:

Kamekh (corvette)

Fralthra

Regarding the Jalkehi, which is very near the capship, if you want to analyse the size aspect, a Jalkehi is 25.2 meters long. A Kamekh is 135 meters, meaning it's ~5.36 times bigger than a Jalkehi. Now, it is true that perspective can deceive, but I think it's fair to say you can "line up" more than 5 Jalkehis below the capship on the picture, to match its length... hence it can only be a Fralthra. Does this make sense?

If in addition it is *launching* the Jalkehi, there are no more doubts... :)

On a sidenote, that game cover is really amazing!!

Is it necessary to scrutinize everything. I was just making a general observation. If I wanted to I would have been more specific but I wasn't interested in taking my time and going over every little detail. :p

Oh brother, give me a break. It's just that over the last few days some of the posts I've made have been so thoroughly scrutinized that it is beginning to get under my skin. What I'm getting at is I'll make a generalized comment and the next couple of people will come and pick it apart down to the very last detail.

Mmmhhh... I don't see how though...
Those round things on the sides of the FM town ship, I can't see them on the pic taken from the PC version Fralthra... And as for the back wings' length, it doesn't seem proportional at all...

I'm thinking: I wasn't scrutinizing your post, I was merely trying to establish with certainty whether the ship in the pic LOAF posted is indeed a Fralthra or not. :)

Ships have modifications made to them all the time. The Johnny Greene is one example that just came to mind. They added a rear turret and two extra engine ports, I believe. Those "round things" you mentioned could either be a personalized addition to that one ship or a slightly different version of the Fralthra class released by the Kilrathi's shipyards. As for the length of the ship and its wings, that seems to be a matter of perspective. On the box, we're in front of the ship, looking down it. This enhances its length and makes everything at the rear seem smaller.

Having a name like "I'm thinkin..." tends to do that to you :p

Taking another look at the box art and the screen captures from Wing Commander II makes me wonder ever more where you're coming from on this, mpanty. Both versions are long, cylinder-shaped, and have fins on the rear. Considering the radical changes in ship design that came with Super Wing Commander and the movie, this really isn't that big a deal. I mean, the first thing I noticed when I looked at the box was how similar that ship looked to a Fralthra. I know I'm not the only one who felt that way. You're over-analyzing.

I don't think I am in this case. I mean, the two ship designs have their obvious similarities, but they also have their differences... You do agree therefore, that they don't look exactly same.

However, the explanation you provided below is very satisfactory in explaining those differences...

For the perspective part, I did take it in consideration, but even with that in mind, the wings' length doesn't seem the same at all... As you said, no big deal though, as long as we know it's a Fralthra...

Heck, the change is similar to the other changes in those version such as character and missle design.

In keeping with your insistance to bicker of the most minute and irrelevant details, I believe and appropriate response would be to inform you that no two ships look *exactly* the same, technically, since they probably all differ dramatically on the microscopic level.
