wow, wonder what kind of people that sells a collection like that!

Probably someone who has decided to move on to different things, perhaps because there has not been anything new in WC for a long time.

Problem with that is like anything else that is rare..it becomes a valuable collectors item. However...it can only be valuable if said item/s had a huge following or repitition, something like the Star Wars collectables, or Star Trek collectables.

WC collectables....well its possible that the items can become quite valuable....at least to the dedicated fans it will be. But to the general public....I seriously doubt that.

So if you find something up on ebay regarding WC stuff...better grab it and hang onto it. Because you can bet the other WC fans are looking for it as well. But none of us will have to worry about these rare WC items being bought up by the general masses.

You can't assume that this guy one guy said "aww, I hate Wing Commander!" and put all the games on ebay. I've sold valuable things in my Star Wars collection before. In particular, 2 very important items, which I had to sell because I needed money fast and there was nowhere else to get it. This is what keeps a collector's market alive. Wanting collectibles, versus wanting to cash in.

Regarding Computer Speeds

I have the Kilrathi Saga and with a few tweaks in compatability mode (Right click on the .exe file and click compatability) can make WC1, WC2, and WC3 run perfectly. BTW, when you download the addons for WC1 (Which are free and availible here), you must set them to run in win95 or win98 compatability mode or they won't work. KS also comes with a WC4 win95 patch which means you should get 4 to work well on any modern computer (Mine is a P4 - 2.6 ghtz). Prophecy also works fine in compatability mode (win98). The only games you are going to have a problem with are Armada, Privateer 1 and 2 and Academy. You can run Priv 1 and Academy in dosbox but Priv 2 (If not the windows version) and Armada can only be run in a true dos mode which XP computers don't have.

Good luck and I hope this info helps you

I did not know that a USB joystick would work with all these games, but I guess since I will either be playing them in a native windows environment, like KS, or through dosbox then it should work. That saves me time and trouble thank you.

I found this link, hopefuly I will be able to get it to work and get Priv2 working under windows. http://originalthp.solsector.net/privateer2win95/
It looks to be a set of .dll's and an executable from the delux version that you can patch on to your dos version, very clever.

Thank you all for your help, you have been very helpful. The set is being shipped today, I cant wait to get playing! Im planning to play all the way through from WC1-WcPSO then Ill start fiddling with the others. I may try to get Priv2 working, I never finished it when I had it before, sigh. Thank you all again, the Wing Commander community is truly the best!

I recall being able to make priv2 run in Winxp (using instructions posted here), but it can only "see" old analogic Joysticks.
