How do you transfer your pilot to SM1 from WC1?

Juts finished WC1 after all these year.. man how awesome.. so I have the 2 expansions and about ot give them a go but i can not see how to continue my character.. It wants me to make a entirely new toon... is that correct or can you continue your character in sm1?
 
What version of the game are you using? DOS or Kilrahi Saga?
 
I'm pretty sure there's a file called "SM1TRANS.EXE" or something along those lines that will transfer the character.
 
Once SM1 is installed there should be a button when you run WC1 to start the secret missions... it should give you the option to load your regular WC1 save file. I think it's different with SM2 but I don't really remember how that works.
