High Quality Drayman Completed (June 13, 2005)

Howard Day has wrapped up the finishing touches on his high quality Drayman model. The final gun tips have been fashioned, and the engines now pulse a reassuring glow. I'd love to see what it would be like to escort one of these things. His models require F-edge and at least Max6 to manipulate. You can grab the 2.5 meg zip here. Some earlier images of the transport are available here.

Nice! It actually looks like it might be capable of doing damage to something! As always, I love Howie's stuff and look forward to the day he's inspired to build a Raptor and/or a Gratha ;)

Keep it coming, man!

Yeah, a Raptor would be great, but I really like the choice of ships that he's picked so far. The Salthi or Drayman wouldn't automatically be among the first choices for some, but he's done a remarkable job of giving much needed attention to these craft.

I hope I see the day when computers have the power to handle models of that caliber in games... I gess I can whait... what, 10 maybe 15 years give or take?

No way, I bet you don't have to wait three years at the most. I'm not sure but I would guess this model is only 20-30k polys. Most games can handle 8-10k right now without too much of a struggle. Heck using max specs and decent configuring you could probably use this model now...as long as there wasn't 4 or 5 of them around.

Actually, it's 51K polies. And the major killer on this mesh is the cargo load. All those little pipes. Craziness.
Anyhow, this is the last High-res model I'm going to create for a while - call it 6-7 months. I have "Other" projects I'm working on.
Glad you guys like it.

So far all these high quality models look really great. Good work howard.

I always found the drayman to be kinda goofy looking in-game but here it actually looks cool.
