Hi, I'm new

Enforcer

Spaceman
Hi, I'm a big fan of WC. It's one of my favorite sci-fi universes. So, anyway, what is to you the toughest mission you had to fly in a WC game?

For me, I've always had a hard time with the 3rd mission in Port Hedland in WC1...always run out of gas. And Knight was the worst wingman in that game...at least Maniac goes on the offensive, which is a Good Thing in my book :)

Skipper Missile Mission

Hey, another Cadet!

Hopefully we both get at least our "Second Lieutenant" in time.

I personally find the mission in WC3 where the Victory is attacked by one of those skipper missiles quit tricky. I firstly did not know what that thing that always vanished was and after I decided to listen to the briefing before a bit more carefully I knew why the ship blew all the time! Nevertheless, those bastard rockets often get very close to the Victory before you reach and blast them.

Both of those missions can be bitches...

Port Hedly 3 is hard because first you have to defend the Claw and the Exeter... Then you have to hunt down a Fralthi without stopping for refuel or rearm.

The skipper missile mission is confusing when you have no idea how you can stop the missiles... or even what the hell's making things explode :)

Definitely Kurasawa 2 for me. (The mission where you have to defend that captured Ralari.) I think I was in fourth playthrough of WC before I figured out how to beat that one.

Best, Raptor

A mission I had firstly troubles with was one of the first on the Lexington. The one where you have to "tail" the capital ship. I always shot the fighters then Eisen ordered me to "give 'em about *§$/ breathing space, then tail em". I always wanted to attack the capital ship as it suddenly jumped and I earned statements like "you're clear to land...if you can manage it!" It is not quit logical. If the ship can jump away when I come closer, why not when I have to attack it in the next mission.

Anyway, the mission is simple if you know just to turn around and fly home when you get the message that the ship was tracked.

The point of getting the recon data was to plan a better method of attack -- having 'tailed' it, the boys in tactical can develop an attack plan that will be most succesful...

Before to put the CD3, the mission when a lot of bugs attacks the Midway, i ran from red manta to another red manta and from skate bomber to another skate bomber.
and ironically the WCP game is the WC game with more Bugs!!!!!
Someone remember the last words of C Roberts at the end of WCIV.... *I can´t go on*.
Prophet.

I just re-played WC1 and WC2, and surprisingly for me, I found the 1st mission in the K'tithrak Mang system quite hard. Those 4 Drakhai Jalkehis were beating the shit out of me. I had to play that mission 6 times before I got it.
I have to admit, though, that I did play almost none of the losing-path missions.

And welcome aboard, Enforcer. :)

Welcome aboard, little Cadet...

I'm not kidding, but there are wing men in WC1 ? I mean, they do really fight on my side ?? lol...

My thoughest mission ? The last WC Prophecy's mission (danm'... how to drop this big mine ?)... I destroyed all the ships with my torpedoes, but the game want me to drop my... what is it anyway ? Well the first time, it was really tough, but I survived...

Hmm...I always had a lot of trouble in the mission where you take on Thrakhath shortly smoking Jazz in WC2. First you had to get through the Strakhas which weren't terrible but always knocked my shields down a bit. Then you had to fight Thraky's Bloodfang and the two or three Jalkei's out there. THEN, you have to take out two cap ships. Took me a long time to beat that one.

Why can't anyone ever get this quote right? :) "And I couldn't go on!" There we go.

Anyway, I always had trouble with that first mission in WC4 off the Lex, but then once I figured out how to do it, it's quite easy.

Hardest for me is the Save the Ralari, just because... well, I could never save the damn thing!

Yeah, the "Save the Ralari" mission was also quite hard for me... but hey, I managed to finish it the first times I played it, through the orginal Wing Commander on Floppy Disks...
Lately I've replayed the mission with the KS Cds, and no matter how many times I tried, those Grathas always torn that Ralari to pieces... :(

Oh, another very tough mission was the one against the captured Exeter, the Gwenhyvar and its escort of Rapiers... hell... wehn I played it through KS, I had to constantly use my afterburners to put the Exeter between me and the Rapiers...
The A.I. being quite stupid, half of the Rapiers blew up colliding against the Gwenhyvar, which also got pretty damaged. I think it even blew up by itself! :)

Oh, and lastly, that Epee vs. Epees mission in SO1 (WC2), GOD that was a superhuman mission... <G>

I always thought the missions in WC1 and 2 with the asteroids wer very hard, because the game would run really really fast, even when I used moslow. I must of been using it wrong or something.

LOL Dark Knight! Believe me, I understand!! :)

WC2 has a frame limiter though, press ALT + "-" (minus) during flight to decrease the frames per second...

In fact, you shouldn't even need MoSlo at all...

Or buy Kilrathi Saga! :D

I could never understand why people have trouble with WC1/2 asteroid/mine missions. As long as you stick to the regulation speed of 250 kps, it's almost impossible to get yourself killed.
