Help on mission 10

Straggler

Rear Admiral
On mission 10, when you are supposed to escort the avenger, i finish everything except bring the avenger home, i try to destroy the infinite waves of enemies but they just keep getting reeinforced. I have tried the mission three times and don't know what to do. Can anyone tell me how to beat the mission. Much appreciated.

Been a little while since I've played UE, but I'm pretty sure there's a time limit from when the Avenger jumps back in for you to kill the bugs. If you go past that time, it switches to infinite waves.

run. run for your life. The avenger and vampire are invulnerable. Just head home as quickly as possible. After you get a certain distance from that nav point, the bugs vanish.

You got two options: Kill all enemy ships before new ones spawn and then press the auto pilot key madly. For this to work you usually have to kill everything on screen BEFORE the first squid appears. After that it is nearly impossible to empty the screen. This is the way the mission is supposed to be played.
Alternatively you can just RUN. That is use afterburners and then at top speed use auto sliding to conserve fuel. After a BORING while you will be far enough from the enemy capship and be able to auto as well. This is the cheaters way.
Both tactics are applyable only after the Avenger had jumped in of course.

Even a thousand apologies isn't enough for that mission :p. All I can say is that when I do finally get another patch done, it will fix this problem, so that the Squids actually disappear off your radar if you choose to run away.

Quarto, you should probably also set the number of waves to like 3 or 4 or even 5, which ever one you like best. This also adds a bit more "sci-fi realism" to this mission.

Actually, Q coded that mission precisely to make people stay up late trying to win it. He's just mad because he has to stay up until 4am every other day. :p

Realism is not an issue - we don't really know how many ships various alien capships carry, but apparently it's a lot. And of course, the Squids could be coming from the Leviathan, which is presumably somewhere nearby.

Well, I just know that a destroyer is not going to have all those morays and those few other ships, plus about 50 squids within it.

QUE??

I remember very distinctly that there was a destroyer at the jumppoint in mission 9--10th mission played.

All I know is, no matter how you go about it, you aren't equipped to end the monster . . . especially if you're planning on living.

There is a destroyer, even two of them, in mission 10. In mission 9 (which, in spite of what the topic says, is what we're talking about here :p), there is only a Hydra cruiser.

(BTW, little piece of trivia for those who may not have noticed - if you destroy any turrets on the Hydra in this mission, you will have an easier time destroying the ship in the next mission, since component loss carries over to the next mission)

Wow thank God there is a way to end that mission. My mission clock was past 45 minutess had like 50 kills. How do you auto-slide anyways? Oh well, I am going to go beat that mission now.

Grrr
