I am stuck on the missions where you have escort the transports. It says autopilot not allowed. Pressing A works at the first of the mission but not in the second part. Is there another button besides A that you use to jump. Thank you.
First of all, when you press 'a', you don't jump . You just autopilot to the next nav point.
Now, in order to be allowed to autopilot, you first have to link up with the ship you're escorting. Approach it, until you get a message along the lines of 'link established, entering escort pattern', or something like that. Then you'll be able to autopilot again.
The escorts are simple when you know what to do. Fly in close to the transport and link up as I'm guessing you know how to do. Engage the enemy fighters as necessary, relink, autopliot. Repeat until transports complete Nav route. When they jump, autopilot back to your carrier.
this kinda reminds me - blackmane...those missions when blackmane was around i never quite got...
in one mission u link up with some transports...take 'em back to blackmane, go out again and there is another 2 transports...fly by one of 'em and it explodes and out pop 4 or so strakha...same deal with the next transport.
are they supposed to explode or waht???
and then i think rollins says something like "colonel, or should i call you houdini? you've got a standing invite from blackmane for bacon and eggs"
i fly over to blackmane expecting to land and get those bacon and eggs!!! and i don't!!! and why does rollins call blair houdini when all those transports did was blow up?
Hehe! I was a bit confused about that, too, until someone explained it to me.
They are supposed to explode. It's a trap set up by the Cats. And that Houdini thing is just another of Rollins' senseless rants. He just refers to the fact that you were able to escape the trap in one piece.
you dont have to relink you just have to let the tranports jump out, as wedge says, some of those missions are too easy wither that or transport take Aaaaaages to travel to the jump point.
Madman: As I've mentioned before stop playing on the easier difficulty levels. In all seriousness playing on the harder levels makes defensive missions a real b***h. For example one time when I was defending Blackmane from Bloodmist & his groupies I was playing on rookie level. I sent Flint home then sat inside the station to see how long it would take them to blow it up. It never happened. Bloodmist & his mates buzzed around outside firing torps off 1 at a time. Blackmane's shields had plenty of time to recharge. I must've sat there for 1/2 an hour, while the cats messed around, without achieving any substantial damage to the station.
Second time around I played on nightmare. Two minutes after reaching the navpoint Blackmane went down & Eisen got mega pissed On the up side I got to play the mission where you go after the asteroid base
Forgive me. "I may have overreacted." But seriously, I think I said that cos the last escort mission I did was the first (well second, really) mission in WC4, and those pirates really aren't supposed to be hard. I may have exaggerated with the ages, but I've never flown with invincibility when I'm playing seriously, ie not experimenting.
Wedge009: "those pirates really aren't supposed to be hard."
Forgive me but are you insinuating that those pirates were just providing some light comic relief to fill time until the story introduced the BL?
Seriously anybody with WC4 era missiles is definitely not a push over...
just as good...maybe ))
how come blair never got it???
i was looking forward to like looking inside blackmane or seeing this little clip of blair eating steak and eggs
Not sure they'd bother with that sort of thing, besides, Blair doesn't seem to crave gratitude. In the novel, Blackmane was evacuated...so perhaps it wasn't meant to be.
You want a look inside, all you have to do is fly into either maw. Can't say there's much to see, though.
yeah...very interesting inside...took ages to fly thru it tho...almost as long as the behemoth...although trying to skim the surface of the behemoth was more fun also trying not to crash either
The Big-B has several points you can fly through, you know? I don't seem to recall Blackmane Base having a similar issue, only at the maw-ends. If you fly the Arrow, might I suggest activating slide, you can twirl around while you fly through, looking at your wingman crashing, the starfield, the base, and just waste time, in general.
