Happy Hour Museum: Wing Commander IV (October 2, 2017)

The bit that really hit me in this video was how WC4 using the same engine as 3 was a thing worthy of comment. Now engines are built on for decades and never thrown away, no matter how inappropriate they might be getting for modern hardware architecture because of the investment required in them. It's so hard to imagine a time when the expectation was re-coding from the ground up for every title - I wonder what kind of hours the programmers were working on those titles.
