Are Confed Marines sucessors of American Marines, or an entirely different corps?

Not sure. Colonial Marines from Aliens have a 50+ star U.S. flag, so I guess they are for sure. Confed's seem to have some of the qualities that are encouraged in Marines: Dekker: They don't pay me to sit on my ass. (or something like that)

They're called the USCM(United States Colonial Marines) so i guess you're right.

psych: Didn't know that. But then, I've never been to Quantico. But anyone who graduates Drill Instructor School, is a Drill Instructor.

I just graduated from Navy OCS about six months ago and am in flight school with a bunch of Marines, its drill instructors from their OCS as well. They told me they are allowed to respect us Navy OCS guys cause we got beat on as bad as they did. Having a recon scout sniper for a DI was an experience!
