More like a sequil I think. I mean, the guy played by Mr. Cage in the newer one is probably supposed to be the main character from this one.
 
NOT! Ol' Nick Cage played a guy named Raines (sp?).

In the original, the guy's name was Pace.

And the original Eleanor was a 1973 Mustang Mach 1.

She also got top billing in the movie. :D
