Good to be back

Seventh Part of the Seal
I can't begin to tell you all how good it is to be back amongst you after a prolonged period of either being too busy to log in, I have returned dying for some good WC and various Sci Fi discussions!

So my next question is, Admiral Tolwyn was (I assume) a in command of the Fleet with the Concordia as his flagship. Now I know this is a ton of guess work, but when the Concordia was destroyed and Tolwyn was reassigned... was it to a different fleet? Because after WC2 instead of Green, Gray, and yellow, the fleet markings were now Blue, White, and Gray. Or was Tolwyn assigned out of Fleet opps altogether to a staffing job at the starbase or given command of a Starbase?

I assumed Tolwyn was already off the Concordia and working at the central command or whatever before long before Concordia was destroyed (Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there no survivors?).

Possibly as soon as after the Battle of Earth occurred he was done serving on the front lines up until he personally oversaw Behemoth's deployment. That's just my guess though somebody else probably knows better.

I always explained the fleet markings changing to myself as part of the naval restructuring that had to occur after the major losses in Fleet Action.

Well yeah I'd agree that once the Concordia was assigned to rearguard action Tolwyn was no longer on board. As for no survivors... I dont think there were very many people on board. Once she was assigned to backwater duty, I doubt there was much of value left on the Concordia other than she was a symbol of Morale.

Still I never had tolwyn pegged as a man who could sit idle by behind a desk.

Right, as Obvious said, quite a few of the people you remember of the Concordia had moved on to different things by the time she went down. It's important to distinguish between running routine patrols and the big rearguard action at Vespus though. The Concordia did spend eight months doing relatively little after the damage she took at the Battle of Earth, but we know very little about what would be the Battle of Vespus.

Yeah. I don't know if it made sense to keep the ship in service if she was that bad off. I mean considering the morale hit of the Concordia being destroyed, it may have been better to either retire her altogether, or keep her specifically in Sol sector.

Vespus is only one jump from the Sol Sector. It's entirely possible that the Concordia was moping around Sol for most of 2669, but responding to an attack that deep in Confed space probably takes priority over everything else (and would be the logical duty of carriers patrolling Sol).

It wouldn't have made sense in a "normal" situation. But considering the desperate situation Confed was in after the Battle of Earth they had to use every ship available. Even those shot up as Concordia.
