Getting me up to speed!

Karthik@KANE

Spaceman
I played Wing Commander 2. And the ending I got was the me(the pilot) being leaving the TCS Cornidia(wrong spelling I know) for auto piloting away(way to many enemies) and then I kiss Angel(forget her real name) and the next thing I know I see this guy giving out an SOS signal or something in a dark room!
I played this way back in '96 and back then I knew nothing about the 2 sequels!
Fast forward fall 2002, I got Prophercy! Nice and can anyone tell what happened in 3 & 4? And in WC4 was Blair fighting against Towlyn, um like Towlyn's the bad guy?!

Man, you must've got the wrong ending or something!!! Play WC2 again!

In WC2, the ending is you destroy K'tithrak Mang (a starbase) and you defeat Prince Thrakath in a duel. You get back to Concordia and you're a hero.

I'll let someone else explain the other two games. :p

Wing Commander III: The Heart of the Tiger:

In this Game you (Blair) are assigned to the TCS Victory (the Concordia got destroyed). At the end of the game you destroy Kilra (the Kilrathi Home World) and then you reitire.

Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom:

In this game, you (Blair) get reinstated into the Confederation Space Forces and Assigned to the TCS Lexington (The Victory is now a Muesum) after a number of Missions you, Captian Elisen (The Captain of the Victory and Early Captain of the Lexington), Vagabond (Pilot from Victory and Lexington) Manaic (You'll remember him from WC II) and Catscracth (A rookie Pilot from the Lexington) defect to the Union of Border Worlds, after Elisen discovers weird goings on within Confed. You play the rest of the game flying off the BWS (Border World Ship) Intrepid. At the end of the game Tolwyn is exposed as a Mad Man and sentenced to Death, he Hangs himself in his Cell. And Blair becomes a Flight Instructor (off course this doesn't last forever since he's a Commodore in Prophecy)

Hope this clears things up

Well I'm afraid that's impossible! I won't get the chance to play WC2 ever again!

One question, in WC2, WC3 and 4 do you have an after bunner like in WC5?!
Cause in wc2 I don't remember using the afterbuner button, and all I did was flaot in sapce and use the auto pilot button!

In WC III and IV you do have Afterburners.

And how come you won't be able to play WC II again?

Play WC3 before you play WC4. The events on WC4 requires WC3 so they can be understood to their maximum impact.

In regards to any episodic series, that goes without saying.

Yeah, the guy was really surprised about Tolwyn when he saw WCP after playing WC2. A lot has happened.

Blair? Flight Instuctor?

No

He was Admiral Blair at the end of WC IV, head of the SRA. The game ends with him in Tolwyn's Office, giving orders to Hawk, regarding supressing a rebelion using the Black Lance!

That’s the alternative winning end game to WC4, resulting from your having Blair side with Hawk most of the time over the strategic decisions that have to be made during the game. But Blair’s becoming a flight instructor at the end of WC4 is the canon.

you defeat Prince Thrakath in a duel.

WHU????????? If I remember correctly, in WCIII Thrakath is alive and well and you can duel him after the Bohemoth is destroyed where of course the Victory abandons you or duel before you raid Kilrah.

Ejection pods are not exclusive to the Confederation.

Yeah, but as you kinda hint at, if you duel him THEN, you are "abandoned" by the Vic, and pay for your temper by being marooned in space (since you ain't in a jump capable fighter, or in any event, you ain't allowed to jump), and thus you end up sucking vacuum...

['course, you can always savegame before this mission, toast Thrakky, and then come back & replay the mission the "right" way...]

Interestingly, some sources indicated that Kilrathi fighters ARE NOT equipped with ejection seats. They'd rather die in the glory of battle.

Wait, Don´t you shoot him in SO1, and then he escapes?
No... you make the jump, and pick up an ejected pilot, who turns out to be Thrakhath. Later, when there's a power failure on the Bonnie Heather, he escapes in a Crossbow. You chase after him, but the mission is designed in such a way that you don't have a chance of hitting him before he jumps... and those five Gothri don't help either, but at least you get to kill Khasra.

Actually, Fraix, that's only the case for some Kilrathi fighters. We know for certain that the Jalkehi and the Bloodfang in WC2 have ejection seats (though in the Bloodfang's case, that's only to be expected). And I believe in WC3 sometimes you see ejected Kilrathi pilots.

Only problem with that is that the first time I played through the mission where Thrakhath escapes, I ignored Khasra and his fellow assassins, and flew straight at Thrakhath. I then pumped a stream of fire into his fighter, but unfortunately, he has an invulnerability flag set (because he's not supposed to die here), and it didn't damage him.
IIRC, it DID keep him from jumping out, however. He stayed in place until I finally quit firing at him.
So it is possible to hit him. You merely can't damage him.
