Freedom Flight

Good book. Covers a bit of the backstory of Secret Missions 2 which the game refers to at times, and screws up other parts.

The basic plot follows Secret Missions 2, for the first half of the book, up till the Kilrathi retreat from Firekka. Then things deviate from the script, as Thrakath takes away some Firekkan leaders to use as hostages. The last half of the book covers Hunter and company going off to save the Firekkan treaty by raiding Kilrathi territory to get the hostages back.

Like that fact that we see Hobbes POV as he and his aid defect to the Confederation.Hunter and Hobbes' aid have some funny scenes in it.

I lol when I first read it...It is the first WC Novel published.

Eh, what? Heh, you think I was reaching for that? :) Actually, I quite liked Hunter, and remembered something about him fighting a Kilrathi and was wondering if this was the same book.

Same book. He takes the Indiana Jones solution.

Oh I loved that part in Raiders of the Lost Art, if it's what I'm thinking of. That big guy with the sword and he swings it about before Indiana pulls out a gun and shoots him.

It's hard to get Stockholm Syndrome when your captors only want to eat or kill you.

As opposed to the "nice" people who generally are kidnapers and terrorists?

At least with the terrorists and kidnappers, you MIGHT delude yourself into developing sympathy for their cause. It's hard to do the same when they're only intent on killing or eating you, unless you decide to be a willing winged snack. :D

Actually, you'd be surprised on how people can develop deluded sympathy for causes that merely want to kill them. That's why is a sick and twisted thing.

Freedom Flight?

"Where's Bearkiss?"

"Who the hell is Bearkiss?" Obviously I wasn't the only one confused.

"Maverick!" It was Panties. "Take your defectors and hit this strike group!"Brackets appeared around one of my contacts as she designated my target.

"Roger, Panties! Earthworm to Freedom Flight, follow me in!"

"Who's Maverick? That sounded like Bearkiss!"

"Who the hell is Earthworm, Maverick?" Now Panties was confused.

"Hulk ask, who Freedom Flight?"

Ahh, the calamities...
