Flashpak on Nephilim?

Probably not, since Nephilim ships are organic(or at least for a good part). I don't think you could do anything with it(what did they do with the rest of the shipkiller after tearing it's crystal out and putting it in the handy reserved slot on the Midway?)
 
I would imagine that the Flashpack was kind of a gimmicky weapon that was devastating when invented, but relatively easy to circumvent once it was realized that it was out there. Remember, the Vesuvius herself was almost immune to it because of the alloys used in her hull...you had to launch it from inside the hangar bay.

I'm guessing that the flashpack probably wasn't effective against the Nephilim ships, perhaps because it wouldn't have penetrated the organic alien hull, or else Confed would have used it against them (unless it had been banned for ethical reasons?) Another possibility is that the Nephilim didn't maintain an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere in the right proportions for the chemistry of the flashpack to work...
 
Perhaps, but humans seem perfectly capable of operating within their ships without the use of breathers.
 
The flashpack works by over/supercharging the atmosphere until it exlodes right?

And it was only used against confed targets.. The alien hull composition would not be it's ideal enviroment.

And yeah, blair walking outthere was about just as classic as "Good, the is oxygen here!"
 
Confed probably would've been able to redesign the Flashpack to destroy Nephilim ships, either changing the design so it can attach to the organic hull or modifying the explosive to be able to supercharge whatever atmosphere the Nephilim have or both.

As for the Kraken that the Midway stole the Plasma Gun from, after the Marines capture the gun the Kraken's engines start up and you have to destroy it before it can fire at the Midway (though how they expected the Kraken to fire a gun the Marines just captured and brought onto their LC is beyond me, as well as how they fit the gun on the LC...)
 
I think they just captured or obtained design information and maybe a few spare weapon components. Or they could have just taken/studied the ship's main weapon after they blew it up too.

I think they just ripped it open with drones n crap and ripped the crystal out, then let the remains drift in space.

The midway was a ship in need, if I was your chief engineer, I would have figured a way to refit onto the midway(LC probably secured it for Midway to tear it out), my main complaint about the Plasma Weapon is that the Midway was built to wear it, is incomplete without it, and it justs happens to fit. (and I'm sure there was a clamp in it's arsenal that said "If you find big alien thingie fit it inhere"). I would expect to ducktape the bloody thing onto the hull and rewire the engine exhausts to power it up in "reality"

The Crystal weapon just fits too much, and the Midway is incomplete without it. Also are there any references in SS that allowed the Midway to "keep" it, except for the part in SO where they were preparing to fix it so they could fire it again??.
 
This ship's designer, Sean Murphy, swears that the Midway was designed *before* he knew it needed to have a huge crystal glommed onto it.

You know what ruins the Midway for a few weeks after you realize this? From straight above it looks like a pair of pants.

You know, that never really bothered me. I didn't really think of the top-view trouser look, and even now that I know about it, it's not devastatingly bothersome or anything like that.
 
Hmmm....okay, so if the midway is a pair of pants, then the hangars must be the back pockets. :p

What an amusing analogy, especially considering most capships are referred as female.

I never really saw that in the Midway. Still don't thank God. What I want to know is how they got that weapon assembled so quickly!
