Five Dollars, Replay Long Time (November 14, 2007)

Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
Jacob has some good news for price conscious PSP owners... both Best Buy and Circuit City will be selling EA Replay at the incredible price of $4.99 this 'Black Friday' (the day after Thanksgiving)! For those unfamiliar, EA Replay is a PSP collection which includes 14 classic SNES and Genesis games... including Mindscape's ports of Wing Commander and The Secret Missions! If you own an PSP and don't have Replay already then... wait, why did you buy it in the first place? Nobody likes UMDs that much -- or at all. The Best Buy price also applies on Saturday (the 24th)... if there are any left!

I got this information from www.bfads.net. It's a website that posts Black Friday ads that they get their hands on long before Black Friday actually happens. There's good deals all around, especially over at Best Buy and Staples for those looking for electronic stuff.

Well, If any good person could buy it for me, I'd be glad to pay for the game + postage to Brazil. I could pay with paypal, or maybe buy something online for the person. I've just got a brand new PSP lite for birth day, and would really like to play WC1 on it!

Is the actual part of wing commander in EA replay the computer remake or a SNES remake of it. I have both versions of wing commander 1 and looking at the screens from EA replay the Bar room looks too good for the SNES version, It dosen't even have the TV.Actually in general the SNES versions looked like crap next to the PC and the screens look like there from the PC version except for some minor details.

The version on the disk (diskette? diskelle?) is the SNES port - I think the 'in use' pictures in our EA Replay section are mockups that we made the night it was first announced.

No one? :(

Well, until the prices got lowered on the web just now, nobody was sure of being able to get it. Are you familiar with the shopping situaton on the day after Thanksgiving in the US?

Hopefully everyone who wanted a copy was able to get one. I hit up the Circuit City near my house (Ephrata, PA) and they were still running the Black Friday prices that Saturday. I couldn't find any copies of EA Replay (even though I don't have a PSP, I would've picked it up), but I did manage to snag the last copy of Call of Juarez.

it's hell, isn't it?

I was at the 5 AM opening for Circuity City, and the crowdmass that burst through the doors at opening took more than ten minutes to all get inside. That was pretty standard for most places around here. You can look up YouTube Black Friday videos to see all kinds of scenarios where people get tramples and they have to call in the police, and paramedics can't get through the crowd to reach the injured and so on. News helicopters buzzing overhead. I didn't hear any of that in my town this year, but the Walmart down the street from me erupted pretty badly a few years ago (numerous ambulances/police had to come sort out the mess).

I left someone in line at Circuit City around 5:30 so I could go to the Target 6 AM opening and another store after that. And when I returned, they were still in line. Their total cashier wait time was more than two and a half hours.

The whole day is kind of a blur, but I made a picture of the line at Fry's. My Fry's is about the size of four Best Buys attached to each other. They have 66 cashier stations (in green) fed by a chute (in orange). The line in red shows how the line snaked through the store. The wait there was over three hours.
