Though the film runs close to two hours I'd still like to see more of these characters. They are interesting and well fleshed out by a strong, solid cast. I'd like to see more from Kainan's past. We need more Ron Pearlman too. (When "Gunner" comes on the scene swingin' his hammers, it's just badass.) The Moorwyn is also very cool (the light it emits is aesthetically awesome), but unlike, say, "Alien" or "Predator", the monster is not the star here or even what sells this film. It's Kainan and his story that is most interesting - the whole "stranger in a strange land" theme. I also liked how Wulfrick who at first seems to be an antagonist, develops a friendship with Kainan as the movie progresses. It's just plain good character development. This film is full of great little moments, as well.
An extended edition DVD can only make "Outlander" that much more epic and satisfying. Do it for the fans!
I've read some bad reviews of this film from jaded, pretentious pseudo-critics. Screw all that. It's finding it's audience. It's got a lot of heart and is destined to become a cult classic.
