Excalibur v. Vindicator v. Morningstar

I always thought the Excal was a little... well step back, I mean look at the array of weaponry on the WC3 Thunderbolt, I was sitting in a haze for hours after playing my first mission on that one.

i have never noticed the wing commander 4 engine being capable of making you drift because of an explosion near you, they were probably trying to make sure you'd always be capable of impresssing the AI cats while doing a barrel roll through the still smoking debris of their wingmate's fighter you just took out... :D

Ok who says the Vin doesnt have the same Capabilites as the others!? The Vin Has Tachion and Laser Cannon (My two fav BTW) Better Manueverability then the MO, also a wider array of secondary weaponry... and if I remember correctly, NO ONE DIED from someone shooting up the Mace on a Vin.

The Vindicator has less armor, less shielding, less speed, and less overall firepower (secondary weaponry couldn't be linked with the primary guns, and those 2 lasers in front were pretty much "tits on a bull" useless, compared to the pair of tachs). A Vin may kill an Excal or Morningstar, but it'd require the pilots of those other fighters to have fallen asleep at the stick. :p

Whos idea was it to Compair the Hustler to the Morningstar? It two diff types of planes!

No shit! REally! I never noticed! gee, thanks. You are always so helpful! </xtremesarcasm>

I was actually comparing tactical nukes. Not the ships. Note that the EXACT SAME MACE is no big deal in WC4. It's actually kinda useless. Everything else was upgraded, so it was almost like the mace was downgraded.

And Corsair, please refrain for replying my posts, I'm actually going to ignore you from now on.

Christ, what's with all the hostility? And not even the witty, yet a-holish quips of Death or LOAF(that's a compliment boys, don't hurt me please), but blatant flaming? Tone it down a notch, or crank up the IQ a few notches. Pick one.

As for the Mace... yeah, I miss the thought of having a tactical nuke strapped to my fighter... kept things interesting. I just wish it'd been worth a darn in wc4... the damage was severely nerfed. (Imagine that sucker on a planetside mission, jesus!) :D

Yeah it was kool to have... but it was a double edge sword, according to the stories, it made the Morningstar Easier to kill... also if you shoot it at a fighter and he actually hits it with his weapons, you go up in smoke. So using it means getting within the perfect range of using it without him being able to hit it or the concussion being allowed to kill you.

Well, Manic, thechnically they didn't nerfe the Mace, they actually upgraded everything else but the mace.

And, sincerely, people liked it mostly because it was called a NUKE... Torpedoes and "normal" missiles were also cool and a lot more reliable.

In a straight up dogfight w/o the mace, as Chuck Yeager used to remind all the time when playing CYAC, "Remember it's the MAN, not the MACHINE."
ahh CYAC good times

That was a great game... so old though... I remember i used to spend hours at a time in the custom mission trying to take out the entire German airforce in a P-51.

Yep, and then the German airforce suddenly turned up with a Panavia Tornado... - just kidding :D
