The massively multiplayer space combat sim Eve-Online is running a trial promotion with GamersHell. Serial keys for fourteen day free trials are available for a limited time. There's a 500 meg download to go along with that, but it's probably worth a shot if you have broadband. Regular thirty day trials normally cost $19.95. Eve supports over 10,000 simultaneous players in a single connected universe.

EVE Online is the next generation in massive multiplayer online games. Set in a world of galactic magnitude, governed by a hyper capitalistic economy. Your aim is to establish yourself as a major mover and shaker, trusted by your friends and respected by your enemies. Your main tools to accomplish this, apart from the whole panoply of sophisticated equipment, space ships and corporations will be your business acumen and social skills, Machiavellian thinking and cunning combat strategies.
An Eve expansion, Shiva, is scheduled for this fall. You can grab your free trial pass here.

This game is a lot of fun if you can get past the initial learning curve and slow pace at the start.

It's hard to do much besides mine at the beginning, which is a long and tedious process. The combat isn't twitch-based (meaning you target and fire lasers that swivel on turrets - not Wing Commander style) and I think the whole 'immersion' atmosphere is lacking.

GREAT game nonetheless - but it still can't hold a candle to Privateer. :D

I was wondering where I heard of Eve Online before, then I recalled it was here. Too bad the original site is down, though. A well-played scam, I must say... though if it's as bad as the guy makes out... it's no wonder they need to entice people to play.

Well i played this game for a month and was greatly disappointed. No real combat and very boring flight system. It was fun for the first 2 weeks, but than it turned out to be nothing but repeating all actions all the time.... got bored very fast.

I hope that JTL for SWG will be great. I've played SWG from almost the very beginning and i'm eager to fight in space and kick some ass in real-combat.... though i hope png won't be too high ;)
