Ejection bashings

This is why I'm giving the XWA WCTC a more equal stance than any of the WC games (besides Armada probably). I don't like the idea of two Hornets being able to wipe out a group of Gratha, Krants, and a Ralari destroyer...let alone 5 Jalthi and 3 Fralthi cruisers!

Eh, what? Please don't tell me that when you compare the difficulty of WC1/WC2 against WC3/WC4 on the nightmare level, you go with WC1,2.:)

wing commander 3[default setting or lower] & prophecy/secret ops[nightmare] could be considered easier, but wcIV isn't really any easier then wc1 or 2 and it's certianly harder then either when set to nightmare.

it's easier to shoot people down in wc3 and 4 compared to 1 and 2 mostly because of the better graphics/game technology that lets you see what is going on more. also, the guns have more power, faster firing rates, and more velocity, and the ships seem to have weaker armor/shields. Then you add ITTS (I know it was in wc2, but not every ship had it), and you don't even have to aim. There's where it becomes easy. At least thats my opinion.

Mmmmmh, correct me if I am wrong, I think the mission where you confront 5 Jalthis and 3 Fralthi cruisers, you are actually flying those captured New Mass Driver Dralthis (in SM2)...

And you are told NOT TO ENGAGE THE ENEMY!!
Man, the first time I played the mission, I did not understand English very well, so I misunderstood the briefing and thought I had to blow up the Fralthis...
So I made a point to blow up the whole taskforce by myself (and actually SUCCEEDED in doing that!)...
Boy, after the mission, WHAT A LECTURE in Halcyon's debriefing room!! LOL :)

Oh wait actually, wc1 is harder then wcIV on nightmare.
Try it on a 450 or faster with out a slow down utility :D .
It actually is sort-of playable I just finished the first mission after a few trys, but the second mission is an escort mission  .

Yup, same desperate try as me Dekkar... :)

Try maybe using MoSlo to slow it down, or get Kilrathi Saga eh eh... ;)

If they say, don't engage it. i won't. But i engage everything that crosses my pad and isn't friendly. In a pirahna against a tiamat, i don't care...

Yes, that is true. When I count my Blair kills from all games together I shot down around 2300 enemies. And that in a 17 years career ( I know there are pauses between the games where Blair could have destroyed further Kilrathi, and the WCATV kills and so on are not counted, they are just for comparison).

yes, and most of you seem to forget that those destroyers and cruisers we all lover to take out have a crew of 1000+, that's something to think about...

"Kill" refers to a ship destroyed, *not* to a life taken -- after all, in many cases enemy pilots eject and survive the destruction of their craft.

From a canon standpoint, Blair had over 2,000 kills (he was Confed's 11th highest ranking ace, with Maniac at 14th with 2001 kills pre-Prophecy)...

RfBurns, it is true that a horde of Devil Rays will certainly get to my armor, but it is not for sure that they will shoot me down. Devil Rays (and perhaps Mantas) are the only bugs which pose a threat when they are less than a dozen.
And I have to agree every WC game got easier. WC2 was easier than WC1 and WC3 was easier than WC2 (even on the higher difficulties). WC4 was (on the higher levels) an exception and why? Because you did not have to fight inferior cat ships but terran ships that were your equal or in case of the Dragon, even superior. WCP again is much less of a challenge. SOPS is also not that great because it annoys me that the only way to make a mission hard is to send countless waves of enemies at me. What is the difference between the bugs and the cats? Except that most people prefer cats to bugs...

Huh? Who were the first 10? Do you have a "canon" ranking of some kind of all the pilots we know from the WC universe, Bandit?

No, we don't know who they were -- only that the other 38 pilots in the top 40 were all *before* Custer's Carnival (and before shield technology was significant).

Before shield technology was significant? You mean they invented shields in the last few years before the Vega Campaign?

With regard to difficulty in WC1 and 2, just use the "Origin" option when you start the respective games then alt i to make them tougher or ctrl i to make them easier.

At command prompt: <C:\Wing\> WC Origin

I 'think' it works....

He means that Blair and Maniac are the only ones to enlist after shields became stronger, therefore making ships harder to destroy.

also as stated in Waypoint! in pre-custers carnival days the cats had suicidal tactics. BTW i wonder if someone was to count every possible kill for blair in every game plus the movie and TVshow, what the numbers would be

WayPoint tells how many kills Maniac have before the Bugs show up, so since Blair have more kills that Maniac....
