Is there one game or project where we can engage a WC3 dreadnaught IN THE PLOT (in short not considering the WC3 losing path mission)?

The only time you see it in WC3 is on the losing path. Firefly's "Favor the Bold" mission has a Dreadnought in it. You get it here.

After clearing out nav points 1 and 2, proceed to nav3 where you are to assist in the destruction of a Kilrathi Dreadnought. The destruction of this vessel will greatly cripple the Kilrathi war effort in this sector. There is an old saying, "Fortune favors the bold", well where about to find out.

Maybe someone else can tell you how to run fan missions in WC3.

Also, in SM1 you can tackle the snakeir carriers, but in the database they talk of a super-dreadnaught variant (same ship, but scaled off: 3 Km long). Can you engage that in a WC game somewhere?

something else: Are the WC3 missions compatible with the dos WC3 version?
Likewise, are the WC1 and WC2 missions compatible with the KS?

Also, will cic give the patch loaf has been refering to?
(besides, loaf, did you recieve my PM?).

Yes, the mission files are compatable between the DOS and KS versions of the games, since the modifications to use DirectX all deal with the executables, not the data files like saved games.

You only tackle the dreadnought in the losing Sol mission in WC3. It's a pain to fight one. The dreadnought in SM1 is Sivar, which is 550 meters.

No, we're hiding it on purpose to be mean to the millions of people who continue to demand that the dreadnaught in Secret Missions be larger (in a game that doesn't measure in-flight scale).

But seriously, if you want any ships in the original Wing Commander to be larger, you can use WCView (in our files section) to pump them up a bit.

Possibly... but I get a lot of PMs, and hate them all. If people need to contact me, they should e-mail, call, write, fax, telegraph or skywrite before they use the PM feature. It'll get you a reply a lot quicker.

Well, therein lies the problem. Updated versions of Claw Marks say that the Sivar is only 103 meters long... 550 meters comes from a Computer Gaming World supplement (produced by Origin). The 825 meter version is the one shown in the Wing movie.

could we make a game model of what the superdreadnaught snakeir variant would look like, and then implement it in games?

starlord: Well, the amount of time, sweat, and effort that it would take to put this sort of thing together - pretty much a whole new ship, massive in proportion, with at least a reasonable level of detail - would be prohibitive. Even worse, to do this based on the request of only one fan...
Let me put it this way: If I was able to devote 100% of my time to doing WC fan art I'd still be hesitant to do this. I've got nowhere near that amount of time, and I doubt anyone else would have much more than I do.
In short, it's unreasonable because it's a incredibly selfish request. You're asking someone else to take an immense amount of time to do something that only you will really appreciate. If you were really serious about this - if it really meant that much to you - you'd be better off asking for help making a giant Snakeir super-dreadnaught. That sort of request is perfectly reasonable, and there would be many people here willing to point you in the right direction. It'd certainly be less abrasive than callously asking someone else to do it for you.

let's just stay calm, all of us.
I didn't mean any offense, even if unwillingly I did offend you.
I'm just a newcommer and would like to know more on that kind of art mode.
Yet, If I have the time, I will give it a try. (a super snakeir IS something worth talking about).
In that case, perhaps you might counsider giving me advice, howard?

For starters, I'd reccommend getting your hands on a decent free modelling program. The ones I'd suggest are Wings3D ( http://www.wings3d.com/ ), Blender (http://www.blender3d.com/cms/Home.2.0.html), or Anim8tor (http://www.anim8or.com/). Get a feel for the different options, and pick the one that best suits you current abilities. If you're a beginner, I'd reccomend starting with Wings3d before you move to a more advanced prgram like Blender. Each of these programs has quite a few tutorials to follow, and each has a decent-sized following to ask specific questions of.
Once you have a 3d program, and you're reasonably comfortable with it, it's time to go shopping for references. Look through WCNews and get aas many reference pictures of the Snakier as you possibly can. Browse through them often, and get an intimate familiarity with the design. Learn exactly what goes where.
Then start modelling in whichever program you've got. Make no mistake, you'll probably go through 3 or 4 iterations before you're happy. Pay particular attention to the polycount of the ship. I'd reccommend not going over 15,000 polies for the ship. Sounds like a lot, I know - but once you get into doing curved sufaces, that number gets eaten up fairly quickly.
As soon as you have your model, you'll want to texture it. To do so, I suggest Photoshop as the primary tool. If you don't have it or are unwilling to pay for it, the GIMP is probably your best option (http://www.gimp.org/) Again - learn the programs so you can know what your options are. You'll probably also want to throughly learn how your 3d program handles UV unwrapping. Plenty of tutorials are available on the specifics of that process as well...Google is your friend.
After you have a model, texture and the UV's unwrapped, it's time to put it into a game. There are several options available to you at this point - everythign from Homeworld 2 to Flight Commander. Choose whichever one best fits the setting and feel that you want your ship displayed it.
I hope you have begun to realize what an undertaking this is. This task will likely not be measured in weeks, but months. I say this not to discourage you, but to give you a reasonable expectation fo what you're getting into. It will not be a quick process. However, once you're done it the first time, all subsequent efforts take much less time to complete. And despite how it seems, this is an immense amount of fun. Once you have the skillset, there's really no limit to what type of ship/terrain/characters/whatever you can create.
Best of luck!

It's just such an abstract issue. Why would you want a larger version of the Sivar? There's just no context without a story and missions and all that stuff to go with it...
