I'm having a problem getting DOSBox to do anything other than run (itself).

I'm trying to get Armada and Academy to run (specifically), but Strike Commander and Privateer would be nice too (eventually will need to have Priv run once I finish my run through the series and head back to start on the Priv's).

I have set ems=false and left everything else default (not full screen, which I'd like, haven't messed with the memsize, or SB settings or anything). I did try setting the core to dynamic since I saw someone else asking how to do that in another thread, but it didn't help.

The weird thing is that Academy had run before (Armada never did). But that was on my old hardware, a now dead P4 2.4GHz with 533FSB. I had to replace the chip and mobo, and now have a P4 3.2GHz (1MB Cache) with 800FSB. The rest of the system is the same. And I rebuilt the OS along with the mobo swap. It's XP Pro, SP1, all updates shy of SP2.

It seems that most other people here have these games run with no problem, which makes it a bit more frustrating that they refuse to do anything for me. :(

Anybody have any ideas?

i copied my dosbox.conf for you. with these settings WC3 and Crusader: No Remorse runs perfectly. Try it out, maybe it helps ;)

try to configure a gus soundcard in the setup window of wc3
i read multiple threads it uses lesser system resources as opposed to the sb16
emulation.

also take a look in the taskmanager (ctrl alt del) and see if some other processes
are using too many system resources.
or try vdmsound...

well, i had sort of the same problem, vdmsound helped
