Dos Emulator so I can run WIng Commander I?

Treguard

Spaceman
does anybody iknow if there's a dos emulator out there which ignores silly conventionaly memory (and ems and all that crap) and just runs the game ? :D

Yeah I know this is a simple way of thinking but doesn't it just show how incompatible modern OS are?

Hmmm

Why not get an SNES emulator and get the Wing Commander ROM? I know the SNES version is inferior and there is a lot of "key crunching," but still... it ought to hold you over before either purchasing an olskoo 486 or the exaggerated priced Kilrathi Saga :)

Unfortuantely there is no such thing.... the most modern OS that can run WC is win98 SE you need to run memmaker and other tools but it WILL run the original games.

damnit i hate that. I was playing the other day and couldnt get to a target that I WAS FASTER THAN!!!!. it sucked royally.

What you can always do is make a small partition in which you install only dos and then run WC1 from there (with moslo or something).
Although the easiest thing to do is just find an old computer and run it on that one (like most of us have done)

THEY WERE JUSTIFIED [/B]

Your justification is silly if not outright stupid. You cannot bash SNES, since they made tons upon tons of excellent 16-bit games.
Hell, even the Syndicate port was good.

You can even bash SWC but at least an attempted port was done. The first memory I have of WC is a SWC ad on the back of several Marvel comics.

The game may have bugs, and may suck, but please do not post rants about hating something without more concise evidence.

it was almost unplayable

Oh! Yes! Yes! It all makes sense! I believe we can include that statement in Unified Theory! YES! MY GOD! OH MY GOD! YES!

[This sarcastic statement is brought to you by LeHah. LeHah: When you absolutely, positively have to kill Kilrathi in under a minute.]

erm.. its really hard saving a ralari when the grathas can shoot it yet you cant attack them, ya know. WC musta been too much for the poor snes.

Graphics were decent, radar was shitty and worthless, if the enemy didnt want to shoot at you, you almost couldnt ever catch it, and it got so slow sometimes it wasnt even funny. at times it was good, and at times it was just bad. SNES is great dont get me wrong, i love mine. but that game sometimes was a bit too much for the SNES.

DOSEmu

Actually you can theoretically use DOSEmu and freedos (or any other DOS) to run WC under the LinuxOS... And yes, you can tell the computer how much memory you want to emulate, and the speed of the CPU as well. I'll let you know if I have any success with it.

I believe LeHah is confusing Super Wing Commander with Wing Commander for the SNES... which are two very different things.

Whoops, you found me out! But I'll get you next time, LOAF! I most certainly will! Bahahahahahahaha!
