Does this sound reasonable...

Didn't Bear take a demotion at one point near the end of the kat war? His rank is sometimes is hard to follow with his confed one, then kruger promoting him just before BOT, then the wc3 stuff, then the false colors, etc...

He took a 'demotion' from commanding a light carrier or destroyer to head up the FLRS Mjolnir's fighter wing. About the only possible demotion I see is from Rear Admiral to Commodore, though that seems to be just a cafe of the revision demons getting to work on the outline used for the WC4N.

Isn't his service career roughly...Pilot on TCS Gettysburg, pilot on Concordia, WC on Tarawa, captain of Tarawa, professor at Academy, captain of Tarawa, commander of destroyer group, retirement, enters service of FRLN, WC of Mjolnir

I may be wrong but that's roughly what he did. On a side note, in the prologue to AS I forget if it's him or Lonewolf that is mentioned as a rear admiral.

The reference isn't to the WC4N's outline, it's to the outline of the unpublished sequel to False Colors - in which he would have been a Rear Admiral commanding the Landreich's fleet of escort carriers against Ragark and company.

He was a student, not a professor - he took some advanced classes at the war college and practiced on the new holo sims (a sly reference to the Academy spinoff game).

He was also captain of the TCS Coventry, at the same time as he commanded DesRon-67.

I have some notes sent to me by the woman who edited False Colors. Most of what I know about the sequel proposals were from talking to Mr. Keith some years back, though.

Yeah I remember when we got him on the line for an interview. I wish he was still around to continue his work.

Yeah I remember getting an e-mail from his family letting me know of his passing...I might even still have it on my mac at my apt...I'll have to look.
