Did Confed ever return to Repleetah?

IIRC, the Claw marks history section refers to the fighting on Repleetah being 'in full bio-suit constraints' but i suppose the WCAtv episode *could* have happened before the chemical missiles started flying....
incidently, repleetah reminds me of a comic i used to read when I was young(er) it was called Rogue Trooper....a whole planet was poisoned, wars were fought for control of oxygen supplies in full biosuits, anyone else read it?

Repleetah's history is confusing -- there were two major battles fought there.

On 2646.080 the Kilrathi Empire attempted to take the Repleetah System as part of a counter-offensive responding to the Confederation's Epsilon Initiative. Bloody ground fighting, the worst so far in the war, ensued -- costing the Confederation 2.7 million soldiers and 1.2 million civilians -- and the Kilrathi over 7 million marines. The battle ended with a Confederate victory in 2651.290, although Kilrathi forces were still on the planet. *This* is the fighting we see on Wing Commander Academy -- after being wounded at Repleetah, Grunt joined the TCSNA's '54 class.

The more well-known fighting at Repleetah (presumably since it has some sort of moral message, or at least an interesting ending) started on 2654.287, when a group of human scientists attempted to make peaceful contact with a Kilrathi scientific group on the planet. Kilrathi forces responded with a full-scale biological attack. The CSF commander for the area ordered his forces to retreat -- and was decorated for his actions by Admiral Tolwyn. The TCMC reinforces Repleetah, but the Space Force refuses to assist in the fighting. A bloody trench-war, fought in bio-hazard suits, goes on for ten years -- during which time even the Marines stop sending reinforcements to Repleetah. It is during *this* time that Dekker is captured by the Kilrathi. In late 2664, Lt. Miles D'Arby leads his surviving soldiers in a final attempt to overrun the Kilrathi. No one survives.

Thx LOAF, very interesting, I think I'll go on writing my fiction about the battle...

Do u know what were the objectives ? Do u know if the battle took place in a big area with a huge frontline or if it took place in several areas on the planet ?

I think they all used laser rifles, didn't they ?

OK. But can u explain what are those dig(g)ing (?) "machines" ? (hey, when I see the episode, that shocked me...)

they looked like the subterrainean personnel carriers nod had in C&C: tiberian sun, so I would asume they are something similar like a kilrathi APC

We don't know exactly where it took place -- just that it involved trenches, like WW1.

Marines are generally armed with laser rifles, but they have a variety of other weapons -- neutron guns, mass drivers, etc.

The things that came through the snow were special snow tanks that the Kilrathi were using to break through the Confed lines.

Repleetah was originally a Confed colony, the Kilrathi tried to invade it during their response to Confed's failed Epsilon initiative.

Here's an idea I had about the whole Repleetah smeg, and T.C.s. Maybe when Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon hits shelve we ought to look into doing a Repleetah Mod for it. Or even C&C Renegade, because I know that is supposed to support background battles in addition to helper NPCs.
In any event, I'll probably do the sequel to MFR for Renegade.

Is this from the Confed Handbook? I'd never seen it before, but I don't own the Handbook. Should just break down and buy it. But then I wouldn't have as many questions to pester you with :)

True. :)

But as with most WC "source" books, the confed handbook is well-made IMHO and worth a buy, even if you aren't a fan of the movie.

Yes, and you'll notice that a lot of that had a WW1 style trench feel to it too.

And that was my initial reason for not buying it, I did not like the movie. I've had a bit of a change of heart on that subject though. The outline of the third movie novel, seemed to do a good job of tying up a lot of the problems I thought the movie introduced into the WC universe. I still have to do to quite a bit of suspending of disbelief that the topic of the Pilgrims never comes up again, but, as my wife says:

"What, you believed it up to now?" :)
