Correction: Googly Eyed Sea Monsters (April 27, 2006)

Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
It has come to our attention that an article posted on October 12th, 2005 inadvertantly referred to the unusual creatures in Wing Commander Academy's Word of Honor as "googly eyed sea monsters". The proper term for the creatures, per the series press kit's glossary, is in fact "Piscean Arthrosquids". We regret this error and promise that it will never happen again.

On the subject of the creatures, the glossary says: "the size of small car, these creatures resemble a disgusting cross of a crab, a squid and a sea slug". To make amends for our mistake, here is another Academy creature: a stealthy egg-chomping space weirdo.

Do you have a source that say they lay eggs, or is just an assumption by the fact that they look like birds?

The Firekkans who are questioning K'Kai in Freedom Flight describe spaceships as being "steel eggs".

They also refer to nests very frequently.

Edit: and they refer to their young as 'hatchlings'.

I wonder how an advanced civilized bird-people would deal with the nests. Do they buy the materials to build them? Make them out of scratch? Does the mother buy the babies baby food, or does she regurgitates stuff into them? Does she receive a special leave of work to sit over the eggs? So intriguing.
