Continuity Problem: Maniac

Hi,

in the novel "The Heart of the Tiger" Maniac dies during the final ambush against Kilrah. The "ad" for "Me - The Life and Battles of Maniac Marshall" also says, he was killed during that mission. Nevertheless, he appears in both, "Price of Freedom" and "Prophecy". Can anyone explain that?
 
"Death defying" means he *escaped* death, not that he died. The book wouldn't really make much sense if he'd died - it's an autobiography!

Andrew Keith actually had Maniac die in the original version of the HOTT novel... and Origin asked him to add in a reference to his possible escape. If you re-read the end you'll find that Blair thinks he saw Maniac's ejection seat shooting into orbit.

Prophecy's ICIS manual and official guide expounded on this, noting that he was taken aboard a Kilrathi dreadnaught and interrogated between when he ejected and the surrender.
 
OK. I thought it means "his death DURING defying the raid"...thank you for your clarification...

I know the passage in the novel, I just thought, that it is very unlikely to survive the destruction of a planet in an escape pod (it certainly is, though ;)). The passage in the ICIS manual must have slipped through my fingers or is missing in the German version. Where exactly is it?
 
Maniac puts his own spin on the Kilrah raid in the Waypoint! interview (in the sidebar about Blair). The story about his interrogation comes from the official guide (in Maniac's bio).

Nope he ejected as well IIRC. Flint is the only one who seems to die, although it's been a while since I've read HOTT. I'll look up the pages later if I've got time.
